On September 7, 2025, a total lunar eclipse colored the Moon red as it rose above the medieval Acquafredda Castle in Sardinia, Italy. Built in the 13th century, the fortress is believed to have been commissioned by Count Ugolino della Gherardesca, later mentioned in Dante’s Divine Comedy.

he Giants’ Tomb of Is Concias is a Nuragic site nestled in the woods of Monte Arrubiu, in the municipality of Quartucciu (Sardinia). Dating back to the Bronze Age. Ultraviolet light projected onto the stone reveals fluorescent lichens at the base of the monument.

At Cala Domestica, Sardinia, the interplay of limestone cliffs and lichens forms a landscape where geological history meets vibrant biological life. Under ultraviolet light, orange lichens such as Xanthoria parietina emit a mesmerizing reddish-pink fluorescence.

The Milky Way reflected on the waters of Pixinni Tower, Sardinia, my first Milky Way photo of 2025. At this time it rises around 2am, offering still clear skies before dawn. I had the opportunity to test the new Sony 16mm f/1.8 G and was impressed by its performance.
