"There is a very interesting debate raging at the moment about the nature of sin, for example,” said Oats. “And what do they think? Against it, are they?” said Granny Weatherwax.
“It’s not as simple as that. It’s not a black and white issue. There are so many shades of gray.”
    “Nope.”
    “Pardon?”
“There’s no grays, only white that’s got grubby. I’m surprised you don’t know that. And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is.
    “It’s a lot more complicated than that . . .”
“No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.”
“Oh, I’m sure there are worse crimes . . .”
“But they starts with thinking about people as things . . . ”

I just think it would be prudent to post this quote from Discworld, no reason for it, really.

👏🚲💚 #Verkehrswende

First photos of solar eclipse from Artemis II crew look almost too good to be real A solar eclipse from space.

In addition to experiencing a longer total eclipse totality from space — lasting nearly one hour instead of just a few minutes here on Earth — the Artemis II crew got a glimpse at the Sun’s corona wispily peeking out from behind the Moon without interference from the Earth’s atmosphere.

How the media must cover this madman president My three suggestions—with illustrations—since 'sane-washing' is far too mild a term

"The press, because of its own conventions and time-honored practices, normalizes him, and thus fails to get across the extreme nature of this president’s behavior. Ten years of sane-washing have had their effect. He remains in power, reelected, undeterred."

A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!

“Economic Civil War”: States Push Laws to Shield Oil and Gas Companies From Accountability Most of the 15 bills being considered are part of a coordinated effort by groups linked to right-wing activist Leonard Leo.

NEW: Fifteen laws in 11 states that could immunize the fossil fuel industry from climate-related legal claims have either been passed or are being debated.

It’s also a sliver of a silver lining that this rot in our society is exposed and no longer deniable. If we get through this, and take the opportunity to make real changes for the better, we can emerge as a better country for all of us. Whether we would do so is the question..

We very often failed to live up to that ideal.
Now, we don't profess any kind of ideal at all.
Artemis II carries men and women of great courage and competence, farther than any human has ever traveled before. But the country that launched this mission has squandered any chance of ever saying to the world: Trust us, we will use this power well and wisely.
So, on a nervous night, the world watches us again, not gathered communally around black-and-white televisions to look at the moon, but individually staring at our cellphones, wondering whether there may be nuclear bombs in that ominous tool kit the vice president mentioned. Artemis II feels like an echo of a world that has passed, an old, beloved leitmotif from a symphony we have shredded. Once again we wonder about technology and power, but it is not the wide-eyed wonder of unprecedented achievement of the Space Age, but an unprecedented promise to return an entire people to the Stone Age.

Watching Artemis II at the same time as everything else going on felt heartbreaking. Theres is a younger version of me in my head that still enjoys things, and it closed its box of space toys, with their little American flags, and walked out of the room for good

Amazon reportedly failed to create any new jobs at its HQ2 in Virginia last year, despite millions of state tax incentives.

The company has cut 30,000 jobs since last October — while saving $4 billion in taxes under Trump's Big Ugly Bill.

Trickle-down economics is a hoax.
