May not even post much on the "whole civilization will die" ...atrocity? indignity? Need a whole new category of words like this because they're so unprecedented, the least humanistic thing to happen in the world my entire career...but I'm too busy in meetings helping anxious people to cope with it

Takes a lot to truly unnerve these days but the "a whole civilization will die" line is a new plane of horrific. Even if it is just rhetoric, which I would not bet on, it feels like a sign of some last vestige being blown away. The US openly and eagerly announcing itself as monstrous
Pale Blue Dot poster with the words "Go Blue!" scrawled over it in yellow and blue https://share.google/LNLHBCyUNLCB9OJ30
The Pale Blue Dot says, "Go Blue!" Congratulations @umich.edu @umichbball.bsky.social
The milky way over lake superior, i believe this was about 12 different frames and there's a ton of light pollution but it kind of adds to the picture. The foreground was taken the next day and darkened , the water I digitally added the reflection to.
In honor of Michigan clinching the NCAA here's my multi year goal to capture the full milky way arch over a body of water, taken last July over Lake Superior from a state park in Michigan. 🗺️
...Your grief and shock at his physical absence is part of your tribute to what he meant to you. It's entirely appropriate to feel that stunned by it all right now and allowing yourself to feel it will actually help with the healing process later.
How are you doing on the funeral service itself, @karenattiah.bsky.social? My sense if I noted correctly was you're not the most traditionally religious though your family may be. That can be complex, happy to discuss if so. I take part in your grief in any case. And yes: your grief...
As a father who is the designated tooth-brusher for a kid who sometimes really REALLY doesn't want to brush their teeth...it can make one feel just a *little* sympathy for Darth Vader
When is the wedding and who is officiating?
You know I'm the Real America (TM) when I'm hanging out in little storefront restaurants cringing because people don't have a clue how to pronounce the ingredients or what toppings they should get on their platters
Well damn, I'm an English speaker who has watched multiple Korean reality shows, studies alternative religions in pop culture & society, and thinks Korean culture, well beyond the top hits, is Important. Good luck getting my Republican Jewish in-laws to watch during our atheist Passover vacay though
I seem to recall another very Trumpian character coming out with something like "tell me where I might find the child that I might go and worship him" - that didn't end very well either.
Look, I'm not the Pope of ethics or anything, but I'm pretty sure "give us a list of all your Jews so we can...protect them" is something I would have known was very, very wrong by my Bar Mitzvah

Yes sure but God wants financial death for all his opponents. A financial bloodbath. May his feet be wet with their financial blood
I wonder if he prayed on that, too
It takes SIXTEEN paragraphs for the New York Times to mention why the administration wanted to destroy nearly $10 million in contraception:
It's because they claim the stockpile of IUDs, birth control pills, and hormonal implants are “abortifacient birth control.”

The @washingtonpost.com can’t even write accurate headlines over the wire service stories in its fake Sports section. Sad.
Tiger Woods is a patriot. He's determined to live out his entire life as a metaphor for American society.

Had not! Until today I've only purposely gone on Reddit one time ever and that was for my own AMA. Will report back...
Writing a big essay on AI as, increasingly, a pseudoreligious force in people's lives: people turning to it for ethical guidance, moral support, to feel seen, meaning/purpose etc. Looking for examples/evidence to demonstrate that this=a growing trend. Pls share thoughts, stories, subreddits etc.!

I also want to mark the significance of getting a book about space-time and the cosmos into a publication that is aimed at Black viewers and readers. This is part of why I do what I do.
Black audiences are underserved by #scicomm, and that is a civil rights issue. 🧪📚💙
What, I'm offended, *obviously* they are "God-Goggles" and everyone wearing them shall be both omnipotent and infallible
Done! We need much more of this sort of thing. And very nice that it's on @beehiiv.com and not...the other place
"A screenshot of an exchange on X (formerly Twitter) from March 26, 2026. A user named Alice Smith (@TheAliceSmith) posts, "How about white people get reparations from the world for ending slavery? Or even a thank you?" Below it, Elon Musk (@elonmusk) replies with a single bullseye emoji (🎯). The post shows 59.4K views."
ethical people should not be using right wing propaganda websites owned by white supremacists

Here's to all the Kryzoks out there. Respect. Now there's a model of healthy male friendship and collaboration.

White male who has worked 20+ years in elite spaces here. (Chaplain at 2 rich universities.) Just stopping by to say you are not wrong about ANY of this. Such an important dynamic for people to understand. Shit, it was so important for ME to finally understand as I reached my mid-late 30s.
Btw I internalized much of this myself as a young man, not any particular person's fault that I did, it was just in the fucking 💨/💦. Working through it has been a JOURNEY, so many deserve credit for helping me, but man for an atheist/humanist this was as close to a literal exorcism as I'll ever get
This 🎯=a big chunk of how I have to spend my time as a chaplain in elite higher ed. Powerful, influential, relatively wealthy, mostly but not only white men are (largely!) not okay. And their private misery is making others publicly miserable. So much healing and reconciliation to do.
I went to look up what time the No Kings protests in Boston started and this map made me happy.
