Also, the monster in the lower right of the card was Spud, a character created with @paultobin.bsky.social for our immortal work on Ex-Mutants that I was determined to sneak into as many publications as possible.

Two other bits of trivia about this image. I was so into Jorge Zaffino at the time (still am) that I drew everyone with that signature Zaffino rictus. When other artists had to draw Terrorsmith, they interpreted that taut grimace as a pencil mustache.

I may have done this exercise before, but as an object lesson in how short comics history actually is (or how old I am), here's a trading card I drew for DC over a tweaked layout revised and faxed to me by Joe Orlando. So if you've worked with me, you're one degree of separation from the Golden Age.
