I wonder how many UCP ministers and MLAs have nannies/housekeepers/employees who are immigrants?

Pattern? Justice Minister Mickey Amery limited an Elections Alberta investigation related to Sam Mraiche. The UCP refused to extend the term of Auditor General Doug Wylie who is investigating Mraiche. UCP also refused to fully cooperate with Wylie, and the inquiry of former Judge Raymond Wyant.
SCOOP: Alberta Justice Minister Mickey Amery curtailed Elections Alberta's power to penalize when Sam Mraiche was under investigation.

I Iearned there have been at least three complaints to the Law Society of Alberta against Megan Hankewich
There have been at least two requests to Justice Minister Mickey Amery for a criminal investigation of EPS Chief Warren Driechel and chief legal counsel Megan Hankewich for obstruction of justice, intimidation of a justice official, extortion and conspiracy. 2
Fraser called the actions of the EPS “reprehensible” and made it clear that he also felt threatened and that the police may have crossed the line into criminality. “The veiled threat that they may release more information about this matter if they are not happy about the sentence I impose comes dangerously close, and may actually cross the line, into an attempt to wilfully obstruct, pervert, or defeat the course of justice in a judicial proceeding,” Fraser said in his ruling.
A judge in this case said Edmonton Police may have crossed the line into criminality by attempting to bully him and the prosecutor on a plea deal. 1

And @marcellodicintio.bsky.social reveals what the separatist movement Danielle Smith is attempting to appease is really all about. thetyee.ca/Analysis/202...
Here are two must-read stories for Albertans. @ximenaka.bsky.social shows Premier Danielle Smith's referendum on immigration isn't based on evidence. thetyee.ca/Analysis/202... 1

Amery essentially says the UCP has not ruled out ramming through the minority riding boundary recommendation. It would eliminate any chance of the NDP forming government. It's the most anti-democratic threat since Aberhart. And the NDP are like, "Albertans deserve fair maps!"
This is absolutely fantastic.

The UCP would win re-election today under the current existing boundaries that were drawn in 2017 and the majority report’s map, but the minority report’s map would make it basically impossible for the NDP to ever win in enough ridings to form a majority government — and that’s the point.
Alberta government doesn't think an impact assessment is needed for Kevin O'Leary's monster data centre even though it will use about 24 million cubic meters of water annually — roughly 460,000 people's lifetime consumption. www.nationalobserver.com/2026/04/03/n...

A judge may block the Alberta separation petition drive next week. But activists expect Danielle Smith will give them their referendum anyway — after all, she’s cleared their path before. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... by me
They're not just your neighbours, they're your government. Danielle Smith's' Alberta Next panel engaged in the same targeted hate mongering as the Alberta Prosperity Project. The separatists are advancing the UCP's anti-immigration agenda, and the UCP are enabling them through legislation.
You're welcome. It's important journalism at this moment in Alberta's history. Premier Danielle Smith has enabled this movement and emboldened it beginning with the Alberta Next panel.
This descriptive, thoroughly reported and very troubling essay about the separatist movement in Alberta by @marcellodicintio.bsky.social is critical reading for Albertans. Great journalism in the public interest.

+1 Incredible reporting and writing. The author maintains a dispassionate tone throughout, until the kicker at the end. Don't want to spoil the reveal, but the accretion of detail that leads the reader to an inescapable chilling conclusion - without stating it - is very shrewd.
