Nuremberg was an important symbol of German nationhood so I say with 100% sincerity that this is a job for Philadelphia

Yup, no other way to spin this but a complete disaster.
This is a massive Dem overperformance in Marjorie Taylor Greene's old congressional district.
Dems never had a chance in a Trump+37 seat, but Trump won sooo many GOP seats by much smaller margins. Dems have outperformed 2024 president by 13 points on average in special elections since January 2025
What the fuck
I respect the timing
TEHRAN-7 APRIL 2026 On behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I express gratitude and appreciation for my dear brothers HE Prime Minister of Pakistan Sharif and HE Field Marshal Munir for their tireless efforts to end the war in the region. In response to the brotherly request of PM Sharif in his tweet, and considering the request by the U.S. for negotiations based on its 15-point proposal as well as announcement by POTUS about acceptance of the general framework of Iran's 10-point proposal as a basis for negotiations, I hereby declare on behalf of Iran's Supreme National Security Council: If attacks against Iran are halted, our Powerful Armed Forces will cease their defensive operations. For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran's Armed Forces and with due consideration of technical limitations. Seyed Abbas Araghchi Minister of Foreign Affairs Islamic Republic of Iran
Statement from Aragachi on Twitter. Last sentence is key IMO.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked warring parties to observe a two-week ceasefire to “allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war” in a post on X. He has also asked US President Donald Trump to extend his deadline on Iran by two weeks and for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz during that two-week period. A regional source said “some good news is expected from both sides soon” and that discussions were steered directly by Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir. The source added that a deal is expected to be closed tonight. The White House said Tuesday that Trump has been made aware of Sharif’s proposed ceasefire and that “a response will come.” Trump said that the United States is in “heated negotiations” over the Iran war, declining to elaborate on the talks. More context: Pakistan, along with Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, has been acting as a mediator between the warring countries. “Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future,” Sharif said in his post, in which he tagged US and Iranian officials and negotiators.
CNN claiming that good news about a ceasefire coming soon
so neither side here actually cares about not getting iranian civilians killed. there is no one at the table who is advocating for the “don’t kill civilians” pov.
Remember when Bill Clinton spoke to his AG for a few seconds privately, on the tarmac, and the US media, following the instructions of bad-faith wingnuts, made a huge multi-week scandal out of it?
In a brief phone call with NBC News, President Trump declined to provide any update on the status of ongoing negotiations with the Iranians, but he sharply criticized Iran’s call for young people to line up as human shields around power plants. “Totally illegal,” he said. “They’re not allowed to do that.” As for what motivated him to post this morning that “a whole civilization will die tonight” — a comment that has drawn backlash from around the world — he would only say: “You’ll have to figure that out.”
POTUS apparently has further thoughts on the law of war.
We have an Iranian friend in Tehran who has devoted his career to translating Thoreau for an Iranian readership. Starting with 'Walden,' through Thoreau's anti-slavery works and essays on civil disobedience, the lot.
We have not heard anything from him since the bombardment began.
Overhearing someone fuss over reversing charges to store staff who cannot do anything about this guy's credit card bill and...all glory and honor to retail and service workers who put up with such shit.
i hope this happens, though pakistan has every reason to try to seem like they have a hand on the wheel here, regardless of whether they actually do
A terrible person being against something all decent people should be against does not make them a decent person.
Correlation ≠ causation.
Thank you for coming to my “Don’t Be an Idiot: for Pundits” talk
Whenever someone says "there are no civilians in [country]," they are making an argument for genocide.
Of all the things today, being mad at former presidents for not posting through it with us is...I dunno. It's something silly and irksome.
This statement actually is pretty good. This is the most they can do without a time machine and it feels like it was written by a human. bsky.app/profile/stev...
Four headlines in which Marjorite Taylor Greene, Tucker Carolson, Piers Morgan, and Alex Jones condemn Trump for his genocidal threats to Iran.
Imagine being a moderate Republican and getting outflanked on decency, morality, and basic humanity by these four nutters
In a shocking twist, impunity has emboldened a narcissist to descend into full megalomania
again very funny to think that a critical pro trump message in 2024 was that he wouldn’t start world war iii
If you really want to game out the confrontation, taking this last point seriously is how Congress can force a president from office even if supermajorities are unobtainable. The power of the purse is the ultimate power. Not one dime for a tyrant, demand he resign or else *nothing* gets funded.
