This is the thing. Trump supporters were always going to support Trump because he allows them to revel in their hate. It's who they are, it's who they have always been.
But Trump's most effective enablers this time were those people who didn't take the most effective course of action against him.

A vote for Trump was a weapon pointed at the rest of the world. Everyone - yes, every single person - who cast that vote knew that and cast it anyway. The excuse of ignorance will not wash, because Trump's monstrosity was on every available broadcast and his voters indulged it. It's simple as that.

America’s problems are systemic. They ultimately can’t be solved without major constitutional reform, to take power out of the hands of one person.

Obviously, I hope that man doesn't actually use nukes, or that Israel doesn't take this as permission to do so, but the US-led system is not going to recover from this.

It will take time, and there's no obvious replacement, but this system is done.
