The most complex part is the custom lighting and making the shadows look the way they look here despite most objects being actually flat. Faking depth of the sprites is a little tricky too. The rest is mostly trying to be consistent with the style ;)

I wanted some bigger static objects to have depth and be 3D and from what I found mixing animated pixel art and voxels isn't something frequently seen in games... So I decided to make it my style ^^

Thank you so much! :) The world is a proper 3D scene with a perspective camera. Most objects are 2d sprites with shader magic and perspective tricks to look more 3d. But some objects like rocks and large trees are real 3D voxel-based objects. They fit together thanks to the same pixel/voxel scale ;)

I wasn't exactly happy with the first version of this spear throw so I tried to make it better. I changed a couple of things to increase the impact and make it feel more powerful. The spear trajectory was the most tricky to get right #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame #survivalgame #goth #spider #hunt

Looks meneacing! His size compared to the protagonist works great. I think it blends a bit with the environment due to lack of some distinctive color but I know this palette is intentional. It probably won't be an issue once he starts moving. Could be a good idea to try some enemy color coding ,eh?

Thank you so much! There are two important aspects to consider in this situation:
1. She's an Australian :D
2. In this world, throwing yourself on a spear would simply bring you back to the start of the nightmare.
No other way to escape the spiders than through them.

It is tricky for sure. I'll try to make the most common cases look best;) (oh and the trailer shot for sure xD)

Thank you for feedback! I think it's a really good point. I struggled with the trajectory quite a bit... I can't decide if it should be pointed more vertically at such a short distance but I agree that something about it still looks a bit flat. Maybe like... 10 deg more would do the trick.

Ok, this one was tougher than I expected. This week I worked on implementing the spear throw in-game. It turns out that doing it in 2.5d so that it looks decent is not that easy :D Also, you can have a peak of my first corporial enemy - the spider. #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame #survival #goth #hunt

Back to tradition when I'd post raw character animations without gameplay context. I'm working on the hunting mechanic and this spear throw is the first animation I'm going to need :) #pixelart #goth #blonde #indiedev #gamedev #spear #throw

Well... I started working in gamedev 12 years ago. But this side adventure as a solo dev started only 3 years ago ;)

Ah, a fellow gothic style enthusiast ^^ Honestly I'm not sure how I ended up with this specific design but it wasn't based on any existing outfit reference. I just kinda experimented with different pieces that I thought would fit her style ;)

Thank you so much! It's actually 100 days part time because I still have my day job;) But I try to work on it consistently every day. I really like this project so it's easy to find energy to push it forward ^^

100 days ago I created this project and started cooking. I had no idea if anyone was going to like it back then... Now to celebrate 100 days of development I'd like to share a video that shows everything I've implemented so far :) #indiedev #gamedev #survivalgame #survival #goth #blonde #indiegame

Yes, but... For the moment when you seat by the fire you're completely safe. It's just a brief respite though. Sitting there for too long and burning all the fuel isn't a way to survive;)

Important update this time: Cooking! You can cook while sitting safety at the campfire and chill out a little. What's more relaxing than cooking some marshmallows over the fire? ^^ Or... you can leave it at the stick and come back once it's done. #indievev #gamedev #cooking #survivalgame

For the ruined look I'd probably add just a small amount of stained glass shards around the window frames. Or even just in the window corners. It's also a good opportunity to hint some lore about your religion and leave room for speculations, without creating the whole stained glass artworks ;)

Thank you! I had the general idea what I'd like her voice to be like for a long time. But finding the right actress based on VO reels that mostly feature corporate commercials... I won't deny that it was a challenge :D

Thank you! The realistic plan is to release it first on Steam in Early Access. Then if the game get the popularity I hope for, GOG and console releases will definitely be my goal.
