Next invention: "what if I just didn't do that" where something is bad for my mental health, I just don't do it any more
Latest Posts by golden apples 🍎
Anyways yes I invented something new called "talking to someone you care about and you care about you" and you can tell them everything instead of posting
Being awake at 5 am is not amazing but it is great to see all the Korean cat pictures
I didn't read social media a ton yesterday and didn't post a ton and just did my work and talked to my friend and voted and consequently, my mental state didn't take a nose dive. It is a strategy! Talking to my friend is like a kind of posting except better because I don't have to be on here
I've been thinking about them because the idea of lunch Tetris is soothing
pink haired girl in a yellow t-shirt and red dress is jumping across brick platforms, green skeleton reaching up from beneath. a yellow bag of money is on a brick platform somewhere above. the girl is holding a piece of fruit (red and yellow apple?).

I see that in the link to the Parts Unknown Iran episode the video has already been pulled down. You can watch the whole thing here for now. www.facebook.com/watch/?v=832...
it seems like it is going to start with training for city employees but hopefully it expands outwards in more services and programs
Milwaukee to become a "Sensory Inclusive City", which is REALLY NEAT?
"The ordinance authorizes the Dept. of Employee Relations to enter into an
agreement with KultureCity to provide training and to develop and implement a citywide sensory inclusion program"

1. A handful of new food media businesses (Caper, Cake Zine the new Gourmet) have launched recently. I noticed the line on your site that says, "For too long, food media has felt toothless." What did you think was missing from the food media landscape that Ravenous aims to fix? 1. First off we just want to be clear we are so excited to be part of a larger cohort of new food media, and we are very much in solidarity with our fellow worker-owned food sites. But one of the things we focused on when we started to plan Ravenous back in August was we were seeing larger food media companies pull away from the deeper culture writing and reporting that the five of us love to do. About 10% of the US workforce works in the restaurant industry, and that doesn't even include food production, and yet so much of food media is reduced to uncritical praise or recommendations with no context. The founders live across the country (I'm the only one in New York), so we hope to be able to talk about food and restaurant culture and labor through a national lens. That's really the core of what we hope Ravenous becomes.
2. I appreciated all the language around Ravenous's stance on AI writing. That used to be a given -- why did you decide to add this to the site? 2. You're right, it's kind of wild that we even have to make that clear. We have our ethical and moral objections to AI--personally, as a writer, I do not understand why I should outsource my process to an entity that cannot eat, cannot have a conversation with a source, and cannot derive meaning from the words it generates. But I also see promising not to use generative AI in any of our creative output as a business promise. We are in the middle of a subscription drive, and if we are asking our readers to pay us money directly for our work, that should mean our work. Unfortunately, especially in food media, we are seeing what appears to be AI-generated content a lot more, so we felt it was important to make it abundantly clear that's not what you'll find at Ravenous.
I was in Feed Me today talking about @weareravenous.com, food media, and why we are making it clear we are gen AI free

I need Overwatch ranked players to realize that your main account getting placed "low" this season with a reset and "too high" on a new account is the system working correctly if you...keep playing games. Your main will eventually be at the rank you are supposed to be at, and so would a new account
oh man that sweater looks FIRE

Milwaukee people! Remember to vote today!

Jojo morning
Yeah I think some people conceptualize their skill rating like an xp bar but it's a very volatile standard deviation curve, more or less!
>Canadian company builds solar panels in Malawi
>is paid in Malawi's (volatile) currency
>invests those payments in local farmers growing chili peppers
>sells chili peppers to Nando's, in USD
>builds sustainable business model on Cheeky Nando's
This is my favourite news story of the year so far.
a glut of new players tends to push people up but if there were a rank reset and new heroes, that means that people who improve/pick it up faster move up faster, meaning the middle gets wider by pushing more people who improve slowly or not at all "down" towards the biggest part of the curve
to create an example - if you were a plat player with like, N number of competitive players and there's now 3N competitive players, you might not be plat on that ladder, you might be high gold because you aren't improving to keep up and the system is moving more people up and down around you
competitive ladders change ALL the time because they are always shifting and grading on a curve and maybe you aren't as high or low as you thought you were, especially with 1) lots of returning or new players 2) new heroes/new meta 3) no changes to your existing playstyle
placements are literally the first step in the system attaching a level of certainty to your skill rating. just fucking play the game!!!!! this isn't brain surgery

Fandoms suck, as a whole. But do not let that ruin things you like for you. That's just hipsterism.
Appreciate things you like on your own terms and surround yourself with people you vibe with. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to engage with toxic parts of fandom because you like a thing.
this is definitely a way harder fight than Mu'ru but it's so funny how the room and the Naaru look like Muru lollll
