So depressing to see hoax theories develop in real time as Artemis II circumnavigates the Moon. Social media algorithms make it spread so quickly. The wilful ignorance is staggering. The Brandolini effect is in full force....

I can’t make this one, but the Jason and Si quizzes are always great fun so highly recommend them!
Plenty for the most accomplished fact fans, as well as enough that even slightly rubbish quizzers like me can manage semi-respectable scores.
Another kit from Lend A Brick. The Technic Jeep Wrangler was quite complex for its size but a decent replica with suspension, doors, folding back seat, a winch hook on the front. And very much a case of 'how on Earth do I take this apart again?!' when the time came to return it!
This Saturday!
Come and join me and @sihart.bsky.social on Zoom at 8pm and see what you know about Doctor Who in the 80s. If you haven't already, reply below or DM me to get the link. They'll be sent on Friday.
One day at a time. You’ve got this. We’ve got you.
... then follows it up with an episode with not a single Cyberman in it! And sorry, but Pertwee gurning with some rubber tentacles while Liz changes a fuse does not make for a very satisfying climax. But it was a bold reimagining of the series and an undoubted success so what do I know?
That scene is rightly lauded, and it is superb (no surprise RTD picked it as a basis for relaunching the show in 2005), but immediately afterwards we cut to the Brig on a phone and we never see those Autons again. It's like when 'The Invasion' gives us loads of Cybermen emerging as a cliffhanger...
I might be in a minority here but honestly it just doesn't excite me. It's pedestrian at best, and is a rehash of 'The Invasion' in many ways, even down to a final UNIT v aliens battle in the same factory! I am half convinced it is carried hugely by the iconic window dummies scene.
A repost for the evening crowd.
Celebration at Riverside Studios
The Film is Fabulous! team would like to thank everyone who came to the event at Riverside Studios in London on Saturday, 4th April, to celebrate the return of the two episodes of ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’.
We see it briefly in episode 2 as well. There was a publicity shot of Chen with Zephon from the time, which I first saw in ‘Doctor Who: The Sixties’ but it didn’t say who the weird seaweed creature was. Didn’t twig until I saw Day of Armageddon in 2004.
What?! Are you suggesting an epic 12-part, three-month-long story with universal stakes wasn't meticulously planned and plotted ahead of time? Surely you jest.... 😆
I think it's all a ruse. As Chen says in episode 11, between them they can muster a greater force than the Daleks (and in ep 5 he says the solar system alone can destroy Kembel), so I reckon it's a ruse to prevent them from combining their forces against the Daleks before the plan can be completed.
Zoe's back, and we're headed down under for a movie that we both saw as young children but haven't seen since, and find as much to enjoy now as we did then.
Yes, they did, along with William Hartnell's granddaughter, Douglas Camfield's son and Dennis Spooner's daughter.
✨Next Saturday, 11th April, 8pm on Zoom!✨
Just under a week to go before @sihart.bsky.social and I pose some fiendish questions about the last decade of the classic series! Replay below or DM if you're interested!
There is already a huge pile of crap denial posts about it from the ignorant masses. They really are clueless.
But let us never overlook that these episodes were returned not as part of a deliberate effort to find missing Doctor Who but as a wonderful bonus from the incredible work done by @filmisfabulous.bsky.social to preserve and catalogue film collections. Please support them in their endeavours.
Alongside the episodes were some fascinating guest panels, all presided over by the marvellous @tobyhadoke.bsky.social. As he said, these events bring us all together in shared joy and love of this silly little show that is so much more than the sum of its parts.
Thanks to @riversidelondon.bsky.social and @filmisfabulous.bsky.social for a fantastic day watching the first three episodes of ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’. It was wonderful to share the experience with friends, with the families of cast and free and Steven Taylor himself, Peter Purves.
Mark Lenard is so damn good as Sarek. I remember being surprised that this is his only appearance as Sarek in the entire original run.
Standard safety precaution: it comes with an easily understood manual as well as all the spares Bret mentions....
In brackets below:
BLACK DALEK: Silence! It is agreed that you are guilty of negligence.
ZEPHON: [You cannot do without me.] If I go, the masters of Celation and Beaus go with me.
I understand it was damaged on the tape used for the audio release and found to be intact on a later discovered tape.
Some clips from episode 3 survive thanks to Blue Peter using them. I believe Biddy Baxter, the producer, was adamant that no episodes of Blue Peter would ever be junked, so if a clip from a TV show was used in an episode then it was preserved there. That's how we still have the first regeneration!
I honestly don't think they've had time. The intention was to get the film print restored and out on iPlayer as soon as possible, not to remake the entire episode from all the various source materials. They had a film print, it was restored, it was presented. A future release might do more.
Especially how much talking to himself he's given in the first episode! He's so expressive.
And watching on iPlayer, where they have an unrestored version of Day of Armageddon, really highlights how good the work is here.
Yes, that line is fine in the BBC Audio release so clearly not patched using that soundtrack here. But Zephon has an extra line that's not in the audio release!
A Zarbi crosses the threshold at one point but is repelled. Some Xerons helped the Doctor take the Time-Space Visualiser inside but that happens off-screen. But then we get into the question of Katarina's status as a regular/companion....
The greatest mystery of all, finally solved! What else is there to discover that can top this? We may as well just give up now...
