It randomly comes up in my Facebook marketplace FYP 😂 I’ve never searched it, but it shows itself. Random people who are asking for 2 days notice with the order 🤷🏻‍♀️

5 Manipulation Tactics Premier Danielle Smith Uses
1. Victimhood Framing
She paints Alberta as a victim of Ottawa - saying billions are taken, jobs are lost, and opportunities are stolen.
> Why it's manipulative: It makes people feel attacked, even when the situation is more complex. It turns federal policies into personal betrayals, which increases anger and fear.
2. Scapegoating the Federal Government
She blames almost every problem - economy, jobs, investment, inflation - on Ottawa,
> Why it's manipulative: It simplifies complex issues and deflects attention from what her own government could be doing better. It makes one easy enemy, the feds.
3. Us vs. Them Language
She divides Canadians into good Albertans vs. out-of-touch eastern elites, freedom-loving citizens vs, interfering bureaucrats.
> Why it's manipulative: It creates tribal loyalty, making people suspicious of outsiders or those who disagree. It makes unity look like weakness and division look like a strength.
4. Emotional Extremes
She uses strong emotional words like 'attacks', 'crippling , 'ravaged,' and 'hostile.
> Why it's manipulative: This ramps up fear and urgency, When people are scared or angry, they stop questioning - and follow the strongest voice in the room.
5. Pretending to Be the Only Reasonable Voice
She says she respects both separatists and federalists and just wants "a fair deal." She seems moderate - while planting radical ideas (like separation) as "understandable."
> Why it's manipulative: It disguises hardline rhetoric as balanced. It allows her to push extreme positions without taking full responsibility.
These tactics appeared in Danielle Smith's May 5th speech to Albertans.

Why are his lips always so reddd. I always have a visceral reaction to seeing this man’s face, and I think it’s the lips that do it 🤢

Nor should we. The US doesn't get to fuck up its own supply management and then demand Canada to fix it for them.

I was *just now* able to log in to the app! Everything seems normal / nothing has disappeared on my end anyway :)

Not just you. Neither the app nor online banking are working for me. I was considering going into town to try to make a deposit manually, but now I think I’ll wait so I don’t potentially waste my time if the whole system is down anyway 🙃

american masculinity is so amazing. caring about clothes as a man apparently makes you "gay" but our position on geopolitics totally depends on whether you wear a suit

Was Danielle Smith's playoff run worth over $600 million in AHS contracts? The former opposition leader's accusations against an entitled government's cronyism are still ringing in my ears.

When we say Pierre Poilievre will be a shitty PM, this is what we are talking about. Corruption at the level of Alberta (and Ontario bc let's not forget the piggies at the taxpayer table there). Millions of dollars in sole sourced contracts to cronies and donors.

Not sure how to articulate what it feels like to be standing on the precipice of your country’s financial ruin because a bunch of Americans were mad they aren’t allowed to use racial slurs anymore.

If Mark Carney is chosen leader of the Libs, the next federal election will be between -
A former Governor of the Bank of Canada & the Bank of England, who prevented the cdn economy from crashing in 2008
&
Poilievre who told us to buy bitcoin because he watched a Youtube video, then bitcoin crashed

Christy Clark’s CBC Calamity On Clark’s Dishonest Disaster

Good summary of the Christy Clark disaster. Hopefully this is the end of her Liberal leadership pursuit but knowing how ambitious politicians operate, who are also not terribly smart, it probably isn’t.

As someone who lived under her profuse corruption in BC, hard pass. Even doing a whataboutism piece about the potential is a hard pass for me.

Last piece of 2024 off my bench - a sparkly western bright cut scarf slide I made for myself with my horse brand in the centre. Fabricated from 20ga sterling silver sheet, this is a 3D ‘shadow box’ piece that lets light in through the sides.

He faces jail time in the U.S. after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Instead, he’s snowboarding in Canada Antony Vo, from Indiana, has travelled across Canada as he awaits a pardon from President-elect Donald Trump for participating in the Capitol riots four years ago.

I deal wth heartbreaking cases of refugees who can't get admitted to Canada.
And then I learn that this shit bird from the Jan 6 mob is snowboarding in Canada instead of reporting for jail.
He wants us to grant asylum.
Boot his arse back to the States.

If Trudeau really is resigning this week, then lots of you are gonna need to find a new hobby because hating that man was your whole identity.

Fact. He did that. He’ll do it again. And he’ll do it while not “building the homes” or “bringing home the jobs”. Poilievre’s voting record is right there. He isn’t going to magically become someone else.

It looks like the Toronto Sun made extensive revisions to a Joe Warmington column about Justin Trudeau getting ambushed at a ski hill

New version adds quotes from Emily Duggan rationalizing her actions, cuts 344 words criticizing her for swearing at Trudeau in front of his kids
