I spent a year in Dundee in the mid 90s and have fond memories of this amazing little shop. So sad it is no more, and Castle Street will no longer be filled with the wonderful aroma of roasted coffee, but hopefully at least something of the elegant shopfront will survive.
Nooooooooooooooooooo!
Sad to hear of the closure of this great Dundee institution. I stocked up last week, and no mention of what was to come. One of those old Quaker families like Cadbury and Bewlay who offered Temperance beverages as an alternative to alcohol. I miss the aroma already!
Excellent 👍

When I spoke at the prize giving at Kilmarnock Academy, I was proud to mention Lord Boyd Orr and Sir Alexander Fleming as former pupils who were Nobel Prize laureates. Fleming is honoured all over Iberia, including here in Donostia in the Basque Country.
🏴 Telling it like it is 🇪🇺

Three weeks tonight I'll be reading from my memoir of growing up in the Irvine Valley in the 1950s while Robyn Stapleton sings the great Scots songs we knew, from Burns to Alan Ramsay. We'll also celebrate the ancient weaving tradition which lives on today.

A highlight of a recent visit to the excellent Perth museum is this superb Pictish stone, where lighting is used to highlight the details of the intricate carving.

On celebrating our amazing day out yesterday, we were insulted by yoon trolls and had to have a block party. The previous triumphalism of the majority has turned to the petty nastiness of a beleaguered minority who know that their days in the unionist laager are numbered. 🏴❤️
