Some of the first flowers of spring around here are red-flowering currants. These were taken a couple days ago at Iverson Preserve, Camano Island, Washington. I think that is a mason bee in the second image, but I am not sure.

I love this image from Nasa. It shows "NASA astronaut and Artemis II mission specialist Christina Koch peers out of one of the Orion spacecraft's main cabin windows, looking back at Earth, as the crew travels towards the Moon." She is the first woman to see earth in its entirety.

Steamboat Rock rises above Banks Lake in Grand Coulee, Washington. Sand and/or till layers line the lake margin. The geologic story explaining some of the deposits in Grand Coulee are still being worked out, but Ice Age floods, glacial outflows, and slack water lakes are all parts of that story.

Rufous Hummingbird, taken yesterday afternoon at Iverson Preserve, Camano Island, Washington. It may be spring here, but it is still cold and windy. This guy is a recent arrival, and has really been working the few blooms that have come out so far. Things should be getting easier for him soon.
