Although I am reminded of this my art teacher and mentor told me many years ago & which has lived in my brain since:
If you steal from one source, its plagiarism. If you steal from many sources, it's research. 👍

I have been using this for a while in my plurk and now here a few times, though I originally started doing DIY Adventures on my vlog. I have made a lot of changes to content and presentation over time, especially with my RL changes. I have had to slow down on the major house renovations.
Now, that being said, I will use a lot of reference images and research the look I want, in this case something very indiana jones/superman comic looking for the lettering.
That one took me a about a day and a night on and off, but I kept working the next morning.
I have been an illustrator all my life, doing signs, logos and billboards by hand, then using rubylith & exacto knives and negative cameras & copy machines before the digital age.
I spent many hours painting in photoshop, adding many a layer to try to get the placement of the tools right, the proportion to each other. I have some tools I did not use in the final. I do not use AI to edit my images or create content. The stupid amount of time I spend to not do so is how I work.
DIY Adventures Logo showing tools and implements of construction. In this episode, we are restoring a couple of original plant beds for the front entry and put our ferns up in new homes. I moved and spread out 6 bags of topsoil and 12 bags of black wood mulch, planted about a dozen plants, put up fencing, transplanted & hung the Kimberly ferns on 3-way chains I made for the new buckets.

Absolutely! I love it because it's also an insane amount of creative talent packed into one very accessible community of people. Unlike some of the larger artist communities like Deviant Art, or Discord, Reddit, etc. you can go beyond messaging to a more personal & direct contact. Uncanny, indeed.
Embracing AI is like pumping the bellows for a blacksmith making a set of shackles for you to wear that the wealthy have convinced you is the only way we can walk around free.
NASA just dropped this image of Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch looking back at us. The first woman to ever see our planet in its entirety. I’m not crying you’re crying 🥹🔭🧪 📸: NASA
Bet they are damn tasty! Bagels are not a small process! I have only made them a few times, this is what my 1st batch was like, the second batch was a bit better, the third time it was just about right. The worst bread you ever bake is better than anything you can get at the store. 🖖
In a November conversation at the Urban Consulate in Detroit, the great writer and thinker Tressie McMillan Cottom was asked by host Orlando P. Bailey, “Do you have a daring idea for us to ponder and sit with for our collective future?" McMillan Cottom replied with this: "When people try to sell you on the idea that the future is already settled, it's because it is deeply unsettled. I think that this promise of an artificial intelligent future is really just a collective anxiety that very wealthy, powerful people have about how well they're gonna be able to control us in the future. If they can get us to accept that the future is already settled-AI is already here, the end is already here—then we will create that for them. My most daring idea is to refuse." Today, I refuse.

To top it all off, we got hitched by the sheriff at the county jail. We asked if we could use prisoners as witnesses, they said no, but we ended up finding a couple of bikers in the parking lot. It was magical.
There are horror stories of the dark age before AVSitter, methods only spoken of in hushed tones, archaic rituals performed in the night, alone, on lonely platforms.

On April 1, 2006 I met a woman in a sex poseball shop in #SecondLife and fell for the oldest trick in the book: "Hey, can you help me test these poseballs before I buy them so I can see if I like them?" One thing led to another & we married for reals on April 1, 2023. Happy anniversary, Mrs. Graf.

Like, even this piece, were it done as if it were a foggy night, with a few small yellow lit windows, would be quite fabulously creepy.
Aside from admiring it, your work always makes me wonder what a gothic horror comic novel would look like from you. I imagine it all shadow blacks and grays and raining, complex, massive architecture, tall thin figures. You have a very 70's illustration aesthetic in your pieces. I love your work.
We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody and they don’t have books, don’t fuck them. Don’t let them explore you until they’ve explored the secret universes of books. Don’t let them connect with you until they’ve walked between the lines on the pages. Books are cool, if you have to withhold yourself from someone for a bit in order for them to realize this then do so.
Life rules.
"An artist who lacks the power of self-criticism accomplishes but little. It is good if your work stands higher than your own opinion of it; bad if it is on the same level. But it is a great disaster if your work stands lower than your judgment of it".
- Leonardo da Vinci
Living one crisis from disaster is not freedom, it is control!
