I just got off the phone with @ezralevin.bsky.social who tells me this potential emerging deal is a "total surrender" from some Senate Democrats. This gives you a sense of how the organizing faction of the left will respond to a shutdown agreement if Democrats end up right where they started.
This is interesting, there seems to be a school of thought emerging by some on the right that WES lost because she wasn't sufficiently MAGA. That does not track with what I heard over the last many months from voters on the ground. In fact, a Trump endorsement may have made things even worse for her. I met voters who supported Youngkin in 2021 but said they were voting for Spanberger this year because she seemed like a reasonable moderate. - Eva McKend
