I think drivers are jealous. They assume cyclists are not subject to the same stresses, are not struggling to find time to do all the things they have to do, are not "serious" people. So they hate us as we ride along not appearing miserable. They resent our choice as if it is a personal rebuke.

I tried to explain to somebody about why sometimes people on bikes do things drivers might not understand in order to ensure our own survival and was informed that we are not actually entitled to survival.

Which felt kind of aggressive.
