The server at the restaurant I ate at this evening was Venezuelan; she asked where I was from and when I said Minnesota she asked how things were and also shared a thank you to our state.

So I am passing that thank you on to every fellow Minnesotan. You are seen and appreciated. 🩵💙

Fun fact: every five months, the world builds as much solar power generation as all the nuclear power that has ever been built. And still some people dream of a ”nuclear renaissance”. That train has left the station long ago…

Bike parking should never cost more than the equivalent car parking space. In Glasgow it's £85 a year for a bike hangar space, yet car parking permits are only £220, not the 6 x £85 = £510 that would be fair

There's an interesting dynamic where drivers dehumanize cyclists to minimize traffic violence while also concern trolling about how "dangerous" biking in the road is in order to uphold car supremacy on our streets

We desperately need to *bring back* the no turn on red restriction. So much of the time it’s some ass impatient for me to cross the street with the walk signal while they have the red.

If western states had got serious about reducing dependence on oil when it became obvious that supply was imminently going to be a serious & ongoing problem (which is still decades later than we should have done it), we could have significantly reduced demand & the cost burden on individuals by now.

The erasure of this energy assistance program translates directly into rising mortality rates during extreme weather events. It translates into children trying to do their homework by candlelight and families facing eviction because they fell behind on predatory utility bills.

If you only care about freedom for yourself and for people who think and look like you, but you don’t care about freedom for other people, that’s not freedom. That is privilege.

Why we demand concrete protected bike lanes ⬇️

Some drivers are absolute sociopaths and they're piloting a deadly weapon.

I want 6 inches of concrete between us.

look at 2023. every policy we passed that was popular was to the left of tim walz—but he signed them all and then ran on them as VP, and they made him look like a much more progressive candidate

tim walz did not run on 100% clean energy and trans-refuge and DL for all and free lunch

we did that.

If your income qualifies and you can get over to St. Paul I've heard great things about PCs for People. Also I think some of the smaller computer shops around might have a used section. Also Microcenter has some refurbished computers sometimes.

Wind and solar combined reached over a quarter (26%) for the first time.

I only learned this term “third place” 15 years into my 25 year career…I plan live events for a large city, and placemaking has been creeping into my orbit for some time now.
The term made a gigantic light turn on for me. As citizens we are owed healthy third places. Our leaders need to prioritize.

It's hard to imagine a worse outcome for Trump. Both his threat to target civilian infrastructure and his claim to have negotiated a ceasefire have been discredited—neither the Iranian nor Israeli governments listen to him—and he's forced into strife with Netanyahu while economic pressure continues.

I think drivers are jealous. They assume cyclists are not subject to the same stresses, are not struggling to find time to do all the things they have to do, are not "serious" people. So they hate us as we ride along not appearing miserable. They resent our choice as if it is a personal rebuke.

I tried to explain to somebody about why sometimes people on bikes do things drivers might not understand in order to ensure our own survival and was informed that we are not actually entitled to survival.

Which felt kind of aggressive.

Yeah so he is just going to keep doing the thing where we are in a constant state of uncertainty, confusion, stress, and tension because that is what abusive people do and the people who are in a position to address this are asleep at the switch.

I'm sure there will be no long-term consequences to all of us veering between hypervigilance over potential nuclear war and trying to go to work because none of us can afford to pay our bills and may still be trying to recover from health consequences from the pandemic we're pretending didn't happen

Paragon’s Graphite isn’t magical, it’s just malware. It still needs a zero day exploit to compromise a phone with updated software. The best thing you can do to protect yourself against Graphite is keep your phone up to date and enable Lockdown Mode on iPhone or Advanced Protection Mode on Android.

We apologize for the service interruptions. Unfortunately we will be shutting down in the next 30 days. Please move your hosting to another host as soon as possible."[7] The message was removed from the homepage shortly after, without further official statement from the company.[8]

Hey if you still have an Angelfire or Tripod site, or if you like one, now is the time to back it up, like, urgently

The fact that even now, when Trump has threatened an entire civilization with annihilation, there are not enough Republican representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings shows how broken, how irreparably broken the Republican Party is.

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
