I watched coverage all day yesterday. So incredible!

Circular sketches of monthly full moons. April was cloudy so it should clouds and rain. Second drawing from live NASA feed showing Orion spacecraft behind the moon with crescent Earth.
It was too cloudy to see the April “pink moon”, but I am having a great time following the Artemis II mission! 🌖 I added another drawing - this one is from the live NASA feed showing the view of the Orion craft as it goes behind the moon with a crescent Earth in the distance. 🎨🐡 #artemisii
Happy Moonday! Looking forward to following along with the Artemis II fly by around the moon today! 🌖 www.nasa.gov/live/
Thank you!
13 Ukrainian pysanky eggs “written” with wax resist. A variety of traditional and modern designs.
Ukrainian pysanky egg with poppy design.
Ukrainian pysanky egg with cross motif.
Ukrainian pysanky egg with Earth depicted as in the recent Artemis II photo.
Pysanky are finished! I made most of these, but several by the kids. I did an attempt (in front) of that great photo of Earth by Artemis II. My blue didn’t take as well, but it was fun to commemorate! Happy Easter/Spring! 🎨 #pysanky #ukrainianpysanky #easter2026 #spring2026
Fallen tree with trunk eaten through by beavers.
Turkey tail mushrooms on log in shades of green, gray and rust.
Moss in the woods

More from this morning…🌱🍄🟫
Bright green pods of skunk cabbage and an inside view.
Marsh marigold leaves and buds.
Moss on rock
Tamarack leaves and red cone buds
It was a morning of moss, mushrooms, some early spring ephemerals, evidence of beavers, and one egret! @matthaeinichols and Mary Beth Doyle Park. 🌱 #earlyspringflowers #naturewalk

More of a tiny tray than a basket, this one was inspired by the April full moon, also known as the “pink moon.” It was too cloudy to see it here, so I am glad I made my own! 🎨 🌕 #pinkmoon #aprilfullmoon2026 #intuitivebasketry #coiledbasket
Two bloodroot flowers, one blossoming fully, the other is a bud. Leaves are tightly curled around the stem.
Different view of the blooming bloodroot.
Two flowers of bloodroot, just emerging. No bud visible yet.
Daffodils in bloom!
I was just out yesterday to look for early spring ephemerals and nothing. Today, my bloodroot is popping up and starting to bloom! I love how the leaves hug the blossom. 🌱 #bloodroot #springephemerals #daffodils

Wavy, mini coil basketry experiments continue in shades of dark to light blue with sage green.

Sculptural coil basketry experiments continue! I was going for a wavy/Great Lakes color and shape here, but that didn’t lend itself to a very sturdy structure. However, putting one of my many lake rocks into it shows off its stretchy waves! 🎨 #coilbasketry #sculpturalbasketry #greatlakes
For sure.
Very cool!!
Give different pysanky designs “written” on chicken eggs. Trypillian design as well as a stylized bear paw, and also star designs.
On a roll this year with pysanky! I have not yet taken off the wax, but have a nice bunch so far. 🎨 #ukrainianeggs #pysanky #waxresist
Happy Equinox! Spring is on the way! Especially with 73 degree temps in Michigan today…
3” square of white paper with hexagonal brown watercolor background with black pen on top in topographic, petal and stamen shapes.
Tilted view to show the golden shimmer of the mica paint layer.
Final one for this evening was done on a favorite background of my homemade black walnut ink with a layer of wet grizzly and poplar yellow paint from @beampaints I just love the shimmer from the mica in wet grizzly! Definitely thought of flower centers and earthy petal shapes. 🎨 #intuitivedoodle
3” white paper square with hexagon shape painted in blue watercolor with pen on top. Shapes resemble octopus, anemone and ocean floor.
But wait…there’s more! This is the first of two more doodles on the watercolor backgrounds. This medium blue definitely brought out some ocean-like doodles and even an anemone finish with colorful gel pens! 🎨#intuitivedoodle #ocean #anemone
Four small, 3” circle doodles on white paper with black ink. One with star-like shapes has gold gel pen.
Lest you fear I have forgotten about my doodles…I have not! 😊 Here are some, mostly in black and white ink. I really enjoy the freedom just seeing where the lines and shapes take me. Very relaxing! 🎨#intuitivedoodle #penandink
They do!!
Yes, isn’t that cool?! They thaw the ground around them so they can grow.
Skunk cabbage blooming.
Bright fuschia cactus bloom.
Higan cherry tree bonsai in bloom with pink flowers.
Bright red and orange succulent blossom in outdoor rock garden.
Some photos from my @matthaeinichols visit this past weekend. Early spring skunk cabbage and outdoor rock garden succulents to some beautiful blooms in the conservatory! 🌱 #skunkcabbage #succulents
Tiny, coil basket that is shaped like a vase with dark brown bottom, rust color in middle and bright yellow top. A decorative twist in yellow and brown in front.
Side view.
Top-down view of basket, reminiscent of a sunflower.
Flower-inspired? Started to think spring as I built this up into brighter colors. I really like the narrowing in the middle and then the opening flare of the shape towards the top. The top-down view reminds me of a sunflower! This is approx. 1.75”x 1.75”. #coilbasketry #intuitiveweaving #tinybasket
Thank you!
Brown and orange waxed linen thread woven basket about the size of a quarter.
Top down view of brown and orange waxed linen thread woven basket about the size of a quarter.
I am having fun with these mini baskets! Trying out some color variation and may still yet build up into some improvisational shapes. #minibaskets #waxedlinenthread #weaving
Front view of miniature basket in tan waxed linen thread. There are two openings and loops in the middle.
Side view of miniature basket in tan waxed linen thread. There is a large opening with loops on the top.

Departure from paper and into fiber! This is a miniature experiment in sculptural basketry. This particular one is intentionally “wonky”, as it was built up intuitively as I wrapped the cord. A fun and tactile expression, and I am looking forward to playing with this technique! #sculpturalweaving
Nice job!
Three circular sketches in black ink, one for each full moon in Jan, Feb., and March. Somehow clouds and trees, with Feb showing Jupiter.
Something simpler. I have created a set of 3” round cutouts so that I can sketch each full moon this year. These are the first three. I make notes on the back about time of day, weather, etc. It is a quick way to do some nature journaling over time. 🎨🐡🌕 #naturejournal #fullmoons2026
Triangular and curving shapes and spirals in black ink with colorful gel pen accents.
This is a 3x4” piece of Bristol smooth paper. I played around with some shapes and new gel pens. 🎨 #intuitivedrawing #intuitivedoodle #gelpens
Ink drawing showing colorful balancing upper left, moss-like shapes in upper right, sun in center and perspective wall on bottom with some star shapes.
A larger format this time, about 10x10”. It was a slow build of shapes and ideas, but still being led by intuition. It is meditative, in a way, to let it emerge. What does the final image feel like to you? 🎨#intuitivedrawing #ohuhumarkers
