Yesterday at Thursley Common we had a lovely surprise spotting several Wheatears.
There were five flying around their usual spot, constantly flitting about and perching up, plus another one further along the boardwalks. Always excited to see them

This little Dartford Warbler was singing its heart out while carrying nesting material… apparently there’s no time to stop the music just because you’re building a house. Gotta advertise and decorate at the same time! 😄

This beautiful ring-necked parakeet was busy foraging among the fallen chestnuts, completely unfazed by me. Their bright green plumage might look out of place, but these birds have made London’s parks their home, and they certainly bring a touch of vibrancy to the season! 💚🦜

Bobby the Robin is loving his new life in the garden 💚
He spends his days exploring, & hanging out with the house sparrows.
Whenever I step outside, he flies straight to me, always hopeful for a few mealworms.
Watching him grow in confidence and settle into the wild has been such a joy 💛

The first photo was taken on the day Bobby came into my care, tiny, scruffy, and just out of the nest.

The second photo shows the moment I released him back to the wild healthy and ready to take on the world

A striking Gasteruption jaculator, a parasitic wasp with serious style!
It lays its eggs into the nests of solitary bees, using that long ovipositor to reach deep inside. The larva then feeds on the bee larva and its food store, a fascinating, if slightly gruesome, part of nature’s balance.
