Do check out Brian Goldman’s book, The Casino Shift. Stories from an ER on the Edge. A very compelling examination of an evening shift but also some of the incredible technological and systems advances that are happening in Canada. Congratulations Dr Goldman.

The U.S. accounts for 71% of our exports and their trade actions have made 2025 a difficult year.

But we're diversifying markets, we're investing billions in infrastructure, we have the most foreign investment in 18 years, and employment is growing. We'll win this trade war.

Wishing Danielle Martin well in her pursuit of Krystia Freeland’s old riding. May she be as insightful in politics as she was in health and medicine.

So interesting. My father (born 1914) talked about skiing at Norquay in the 30’s—yes climbing up the hill and skiing down.

One of the small libraries in tourist community in Alberta lends out tools for small repairs (electric drills, small saws, screw drivers) as well as baking and cooking tools (mixers, air fryers). Useful for one time projects or to test before buying. Meeting the beds of community.

Helpful advice. The academic system depends on good reviews done by people who are knowledgeable. Everyone gets better by doing reviews. The author’s manuscript is improved. The reviewer learns new approaches. When the journal provides reviewers with copies of reviews, reviewers get new insights.

It’s not too late: book your flu shot today. YouTube video by Naheed Nenshi

From the FB…

Remember when the UCP cut popsicles for kids battling cancer?

Now they’re apparently making it harder to get the bloodwork of kids battling cancer to the lab.

From the DM’s…

Physicians at Grey Nuns are calling out the practice of limiting admissions (capping) as being a primary driver of the emergency room being overwhelmed to the point where

“standards for quality and safety… are not being met.”

Book looks GREAT!! Just got my pre-ordered copy today. Looking forward to reading it. But also surprised at ways that single people are disadvantaged.

Six of the top 10 are either in a kinetic conflict or threatening one, with each other or a neighbour. Or they’re under blanket sanctions. Or both.

Yet oil is at ~$60 a barrel.

Certainly this water break will be a challenge for the people in the neighbouring communities, the new City Council who may need to review their budget figures and especially to those who are working in the cold (and perhaps freezing rain) to get the repairs done. Thinking of those on repair!!

The website is good. I was able to put my address in and be advised that I wasn’t in the boil water area—though i border on Crowchild Trail. I do have big pots of boiled water—just in case.

Pretty amazing. Friends of mine in a small rural town had a man come to board with them. 40+ years later, he was still with them, was retired and provided a high level of support for the widow as she aged in place getting her to medical appointments and the grocery store. A member of the family.

Seems a bit ironic to state that floor crossers are not legitimate. How legitimate is it to lose a seat and then take one that was legitimately won in Alberta because that area voted 80% Conservative???
