A photo of an urban streetscape, it's Clark Street in Rogers Park. In the distance the Sears Tower is sticking up against a pastel sunset sky. In the foreground there is a 22 Clark bus stop sign and lightpoles with colorful Clark Street branded signs
I always find it astonishing how clearly you can see the Sears Tower and *only* the Sears Tower from this angle

A view down Lawrence Ave from Rockwell, showing a neon green bike rack and a sapling starting to turn green with buds
A view North on Lawrence by HarvesTime Foods showing two people walking side by side, with room to go past them on the left, and another sapling
A view looking North next to HarvesTime showing a much narrower sidewalk
A view South on Lawrence showing a very wide road and very narrow sidewalks
It makes me so happy to see these saplings on Lawrence blooming this spring, brought in just two years ago with a street redesign!
Look at the last two photos for what it looked like before these changes, with a narrower sidewalk that made it real unpleasant

After success at U of Chicago in 1942, nuclear research moved to a remote location, Red Gate Woods, near Willow Springs, Ill. It closed in 1954, and after some cleanup opened to the public in 1991. There’s reactor and nuclear materials buried on site. As the marker says, don’t dig.

Two friends sitting at the edge of Lake Michigan along the Lakefront Trail near Grant Park in Chicago, with only their legs visible dangling over the water. The lake stretches to the horizon, with part of the Chicago skyline, near the Loop, visible in the distance.

Beautiful skies in Chicago today.
If you focus on the clouds, you can see them slowly moving.
Or in the lower right, you can see the traffic moving along.

I live in the NW corner of the city. This white oak is 15’3” in circumference. That puts it at 291 years old using the tree age estimator. For the first 2/3 of its life it was in an oak savannah forest.

Three deer, ones that occasionally run through our yard, gave Lady and myself the hard stare on our morning ramble at Homewood Izaak Walton Preserve. Lots of spring signs and birds. Second morning, I had a rusty blackbird. Not surprising considering they like wet habitats. FOY killdeer, too.
