I'll tell you two true things:

1. Star Trek TNG is my favourite TV show of all time, one that meant a great deal to me personally and one that I still revisit regularly and enjoy.

2. It is also a show with many bad episodes and shortcomings that were evident to me, even as a young 90s teenager.

In all likelihood an AI image of DeForest Kelley and William Shatner on the Enterprise bridge set in their Star Trek uniforms. Kelley is smoking. Also, his rank is wrong. The deltas on their uniforms look vague and inaccurate. Parts of the background seem out of place. The 'extras' at the consoles are an odd detail. The other men seem generic. But mainly the framing is all too 'perfect' with the crispness and retro light spill and everything. The just picture exudes an AI veneer.

Yeah to be frank every idea I have for this existing in OE is based around it remaining a paper design for all eternity and never actually getting built. The actual resources around the program are used to investigate starting up new 6th gen supply chains before the whole program gets canned.

Also it’s a good thing phase lance never become canon in new trek. Starfleet ships should not have such weapons.
