Well I guess what I'm saying is that if lawyering is a trade, then I'd imagine that like with other skilled trades the magic is less in the doctrine and more in the humbly building things for human beings who need them.
It doesn't help that a lot of these law review publications seem to be edited/reviewed by harried 2L's who don't have the depth to do much beyond demanding the author bluebook the hell out of every paragraph
