You know what would be hilarious is if someone told Sean and Mark who the president of Nicaragua is in the year 2026

Promising to commit genocide is one more way to show everyone that they can’t tell Donny what to do.

The media told us, based on the amount of coverage they devoted to it, that the number one military-related issue of the 2024 campaign was whether Tim Walz retiring from the National Guard after 21 years was too soon or not.
Democrats are proposing new tax plans that would layer more complication on an already complicated system.
This is not the answer. They should work to convince the public that paying taxes is patriotic - and make them simpler.

Not only does Aaron perform this service to humanity, he's a genuine mensch and everyone should subscribe to Public Notice*
*Yes, I write there too
Watching Trump at this press conference should be very familiar to anyone who has had an elderly parent or grandparent. One of the characteristics of mental decline is that their ability to tell a story leaves them and they are increasingly incoherent, prone to distraction and non sequitur.
This is dynamite municipal politics - tell people about the service, show them their government solving problems, and as usual with Mamdani it's all happy and fun.

Look, it's not like the Holocaust Museum ought to be warning about fascism or anything, it's perfectly fine for them to go from "Never Again" to "This Has Nothing to Do With Our World Today So Stop Worrying"

Tax invisibility is a scourge in our politics
> Public childcare isn't free, it's tax-funded.
> People buying $34 burgers pay taxes.
> Believe $34 burger eaters should pay more? wait until you hear about this idea "progressive taxation"
Wow, problem solved, thanks taxes! 😀
Thinking today that while his presidency was far from perfect, in eight years Barack Obama had no personal scandals, didn't fire cabinet officials for not being corrupt enough, and didn't plunge the entire world into an economic crisis by starting a dumbass war.
Feels like a million years ago.
Trump has a theory of mind. It’s that we all exist to watch him, gazing in awe at his magnificence.
Nobody’s ever seen anything like it before.

Maybe they need a cult leader OR a hate object, one or the other at every moment to organize their politics around. Clinton to Bush to Obama/Hillary to Trump.
Multiple outlets reporting that Trump is considering replacing Pam Bondi with Lee Zeldin, whose entire legal career consisted of 3 years practicing law when he was in his 20s.
In terms of experience he'd be the Pete Hegseth of the DoJ.
"If that was the best case President Donald Trump could make for why launching a war against Iran was necessary, it’s clearer why he didn’t bother to make it before he started the war a month ago."

On the first night of Passover, here's a conversation I had with Rabbi Yael Ridberg a year ago about how progressives should think about the holiday given that God is a real jerk and "Next year in Jerusalem" is a problematic thing these days.

Alito kept citing "reports" of things like this, and you can tell for him "reports" means "I think I saw something about this on Newsmax"
The remarkable thing about this is that Rahm still thinks the Hyperloop was "innovative technology" and not a scam Musk pulled that has been definitively proven to be so.
It's only reason #175 why no one should take Rahm seriously, but c'mon dude, open your eyes.

The answer would be complex, but you're right - the ROI on lobbying and political spending can be terrific
Yet again we see how originalism is disingenuous bad-faith bullshit from top to bottom, start to finish. The whole method is to cherry-pick some obscure quote that seems to support the outcome conservatives seek, then shout "Case closed!" It should never be greeted with anything but utter contempt.
Big Tech is pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the midterms, to make sure they go unregulated and they don't have to pay more taxes to deal with the consequences of the technology they create.

You’d have to go back to Herbert Hoover to find a president doing so much direct damage to the economy. And he’s just getting started.

Remembering how when Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement in 2018 (against the advice of his military and diplomatic advisers, who were sane back then), he said they'd come crawling back and give us everything we want in a new deal, because he's such a great dealmaker. And here we are.
Every time an economist writes an article in another field it starts with "No scholarship has ever investigated this question," proving that they didn't bother to read the four meta-analyses detailing the 500 prior studies exploring the question they think only they were brilliant enough to ask
I don't know, I'm beginning to think "Trump's a business guy, he'll do good with the economy" wasn't such a smart analysis after all
So not only did the MAGA thugs who tried to overthrow the government all get pardons, they're going to get payoffs with taxpayer money when the Trump administration generously settles this class action lawsuit

The distinctively American language of politicized white evangelicalism this woman speaks is only about 50 years old. It was still considered a fairly embarrassing element of the GOP coalition in 2012 when it manifested in the form of Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann. Now it's the only note.
Sounds like a months-long project. Good luck!
That's what I'm talking about
