Norwegians tend to have a very long Easter holiday. I’ve been away for a week now, going home tomorrow. Sprained both my knees Monday, so not quite the holiday I envisioned 🙈

I always hope people like that get a reality check once they start working and will have to be around other adults all day. We are not as forgiving as your childhood friends 😈

Have a great weekend! Norwegians start our very long Easter vacation today. I’m driving up to our mountain cabin and I’ve got serious range anxiety — just sitting at home charging the car 😅

Thank you! Plenty of seagulls flying around, waited to see if any of them flew low enough.

Yes! My daughter had never been there, so we joined the hordes 😉

Visited the public library in Oslo yesterday. While I’m not particularly fond of the architecture I can appreciate the thought behind it. It’s a box with a “thing” pointing towards the opera house.

Yes! One could step outside during lunch and shoot sunrise and sunset at the same time 😂😂 I work in place where there’s nothing for me to capture, so wintertime is always a challenge.

Yeah, had some hysterical days last year when I tried to predict the the fog and bring/not bring the camera with me to work 😅 Issue was that the fog was at its best in the afternoon, and this was in winter and sunset in Oslo is really early. It’s never fog or mist here where I live in summer.

Thank you so much, Alex - really appreciate it! 🥰 Fog is a luxury, we don’t get it often here where I live, it’s mostly when I’m at the office without a camera, haha 🙈🤣

She drinks champagne while she waits, and yes - she’s in some of my frames 😁 The trip isn’t only about photo; it’s about culture and beautiful things. Good food and wine + a little shopping. A whole week in Paris is medicine for the soul. Next time March 2027 ♥️🥂

Yes, I can understand why you end up with quite many pictures when capturing moving animals 😀 I’ve trained myself to trust in my instincts and to avoid taking a few extra shots “just in case”. I travel with a friend who is not into photography at all, poor woman 😆

I’ve learned a lot from him. “Plan your shot and take that one shot, not 37 almost identical”. First time I went to Paris to take pictures in 2015 I came back with 600. Last year I came back with approx 50 🤔

Now I’m agonizing over not noticing that I wrote «area» and not «era» 😅 Still looking for that EDIT BUTTON 😂

Brassaï book on its way to Oslo - yay!

When working with art photo I think you can pretty much do what you want. The master who guided me is the type that brings a film with 6 pictures to a 1 week workshop because «I’m going to take one picture only». That will be me in 20 years 😆

Really interesting. But I’m not sure I’m a fan of mimicking another area in this way. I want my photos to be timeless, and this is not. I like the mood though; a little bit scary in a good way 🖤

Yes! This is why living today is a good idea: I simply use Lr’s AI to remove those things that reveal the year. Cars for instance. I have been taught by some of Norway’s finest photographers, they have various opinions on this; big no-no or let’s go 😆

My defining moment

This is the photo I took when I realized I had found what I wasn’t looking for. Taking pictures became a passion, an escape from reality that I cannot live without.

What’s yours?

I find two books with the same name, one in French and one in English - which one do you have?
