WHHUUUTT? A blanket fort competition? Yes, you read that right.
RavenCon is proud to be part of the Ultimate Blanket Fort Competition tour. The winner of the competition will get invited to the National Championships in 2027, hosted at ConVivial in Williamsburg, VA. Additional prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place.

Contestants have 45 minutes to construct the coolest blanket fort they can imagine. It is strictly BYOB—Bring Your Own Blanket—you can also bring all the sheets, pillows, blankets, Lincoln logs, fairy lights, stuffed animals, or really anything you want to bring to help you construct the coolest fort. Points for originality, lighting, design, and theme. There is no age restriction! This is for kids of all ages. Bribery of the judges is allowed (and encouraged), but you do have to follow the rules.

Nicole Glover is the author of the acclaimed historical fantasy series, Murder and Magic, the latest which includes The Starseekers. She’s won the 2024 Webster Award and is a Locus bestseller. JM Beal started writing seriously in 2001, behind the check-out counter at Walgreens on left over receipt paper, with a novel full of drama and romance and epic sword battles. In all honesty it will probably never again see the light of day.

It’s been a long road since then, through different genres and projects and full of life events that keep getting in the way.

In the grand tradition of writers who dream big, and jump without looking, she and a friend launched a publishing company in June of 2014. You can find them at Golden Fleece Press.

Ashe has been a cosplayer for almost twenty years and has always loved the bizarre and strange parts of fandom. From sci-fi to anime, their love for fandom space and pop culture knows no bounds! Especially, the cosplay and fabrication aspect.

And even more so for ballgowns and fancy builds.

Ever the eccentric, they’ve truly grown their repertoire to include drag performances as well!

By day, I wrangle teenagers as a Career and Technical Education teacher in a small rural high school. By night, I turn into a Crafting Necromancer, conjuring creations out of recycled fiber, paper, resin, filament, electronics, fabric, and occasionally old mail (okay, frequently bills). My newest obsessions are cosplay and sending Happy Mail—because who doesn’t love a mailbox full of joy?

I’m a proud Cat Person =^.^=, currently under the benevolent reign of Gandalf (a regal Persian) and his sidekick Bookstahoodah (a tuxedo mischief-maker). For balance, I also have a Yorkie named Shostakovich who insists on being the dramatic lead in the ongoing sitcom that is my household.

I believe in kindness, creativity, and the power of meeting other kind, creative people—preferably over tea, good conversation, and spirited debate… like who the best Doctor was, and why it is Tom Baker.

Paul Barrett has had multiple careers, including rock and roll roadie, theater stage manager, mortgage banker, and support specialist for Microsoft Excel.

This eclectic mix allowed him to go into his true love: motion picture production. He has produced two feature films and two documentaries. When not producing films, he works as a script supervisor or props assistant. Amidst all this, Paul is also an author, with seven science fiction or fantasy novels in print. Paul is an avid board gamer, miniatures painter, movie enthusiast, and all-around nerd.

Paul lives in North Carolina with his graphic designer husband and four furry overlords.

Mike Allen writes spooky things—a Publishers Weekly reviewer once called his stories “nightmare fuel.” Two of his collections of horror tales, Unseaming and Aftermath of an Industrial Accident, were nominees for the Shirley Jackson Award, named after the author of The Haunting of Hill House.

To Mike’s delight, his newest novel, Appalachian horror yarn Trail of Shadows (Broken Eye Books, 2025), has been named a finalist for the 2026 Webster Award—an award that honors the memory of his dear departed friend Bud Webster.

His other novels include the post-apacolyptic swarming-undead sidearms-and-sorcery adventure The Black Fire Concerto (re-released by Ruadán Books in 2025) and its forthcoming sequel The Ghoulmaker’s Aria. He’s also the author of two more unnerving story collections, The Spider Tapestries and Slow Burn, and six books of poetry, among those the Philadelphia Inquirer Editor’s Choice selection Strange Wisdoms of the Dead.

His stories and poems have appeared in Asimov’s Science Fiction, Apex Magazine, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Best Horror of the Year, Interzone, Nebula Awards Showcase, Strange Horizons, Weird Tales, and many other magazines and anthologies.

With his wife Anita, he runs Mythic Delirium Books, home to numerous award-winnning and award-nominated sci-fi and fantasy volumes that defy categories and expectations, including the five books in the Clockwork Phoenix anthology series. As an editor and publisher, Mike has twice been a finalist for the World Fantasy Award.

Gregory Amato made a career of selling his quill as a mercenary writer for many years. He wrote true and important things for newspapers, magazines, academia, and, for over a decade, intelligence analysis for the FBI.

Now, he writes fantasy stories based on the myths and sagas of the vikings. His fiction is often influenced by tales lost to time, usually full of high adventure, and always the sort that makes readers late to dinner.

Outside his time spent spinning yarns about vikings and wizards, he teaches Judo, brews beer, and plays D&D when he gets the chance.

Gregory lives happily with his family in the Pacific Northwest.

48-Hour Cthuluthon!
This year, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of H.P. Lovecraft writing “The Call of Cthulhu” in the summer of 1926, the Gaming Room will be holding a Cthulhuthon— 48 hours of non-stop Cthulhu! One table will host board games that use the Cthulhu mythos, like Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game, Reign of Cthulhu, Cthulhu: Death May Die, as well as others. Another table will be dedicated to 48 hours of the Call of Cthulhu RPG with round robin Game Masters. Come and play as long as your Sanity will allow. And if that still isn’t enough Cthulhu for you, the Escape Room will be running a brand new Cthulhu-themed scenario this year as well!

During the Call of Cthulhu RPG game, observers will be allowed to buy favors for the players (re-rolls, bonuses, etc.) with all money raised going to Second Chance Heroes.

An avid book consumer, Twilight Princess fan, and an overall wonderful person, Aeli of WolfandKitCosplay has entered the chat!

Aeli has shifted their focus to content creation over the last few years and has been focusing more on their cosplay game. Teaming up with their partner Ashe, WolfandKitCosplay was born! They’ve even begun working on the rough drafts of their first major novel, and enjoy what they call “grandma crafts” on a nice rainy day with a warm cup of tea. An absolute game enthusiast as well, they’ll either tell you their favorite game is Skyrim, or Twilight Princess.

Costuming/Cosplay

For two decades, RavenCon has been proud to keep fandom's tradition of costuming or cosplay-you choose what to call it-alive with our annual Masquerade. While times change and themes change, convention costuming has always been a vibrant part of any type of convention, big and small.

Here at RavenCon we are proud to offer a Cosplay Trifecta across the weekend to fit your cosplay style.

D.M. Mewha lives in the magical land of “The DC Suburbs” where he does battle with monsters such as “Beltway Traffic” and “Wow, Everything Is Too Expensive” with the help of his talented and far-too-patient wife and an assorted menagerie of pets that she threatens to make weirder as time goes on (people don’t really want skunks as pets, do they?). He writes sci-fi and fantasy in a variety of flavors and is a certified TTRPG nerd who dabbles in some tabletop wargaming, which sounds better than “he plays with little plastic guys and makes them go ‘pew pew’.”
