Mark Hamill Claims ‘Star Wars’ is in Good Hands Under the Leadership of Dave Filoni Mark Hamill himself speaks on Lucasfilm recently making Dave Filoni their new president after having previous positive interactions with him on the sets of the Disney Plus series _The Mandalorian_ and _The Book of Boba Fett_ , which he called “great stuff”. While speaking to _**USA Today**_ about the various happenings in the _Star Wars_ franchise and the memories he’s had with it, Hamill took a moment to give a shout-out to Filoni: > “[I] can’t think of better hands [for _Star Wars_ to be in; he understands the franchise] so well. George [Lucas] was a mentor to Dave Filoni, so he knows George’s sensibility.” He also noted that he was surprised that 50 years have passed since the first day of filming of the original _Star Wars_ movie in Tunisia: > “It doesn’t feel like 50 years, and it makes you feel old. [I was looking at old notes from the production back then, and it] was bringing back such memories… Time flies when you’re having fun!” Lastly, he reflected on how his kids all hold different opinions of the franchise: > “[My first son Nathan] was totally into it! He could sit in Yoda’s house because he was little. He was perfectly proportioned. He sat on the Emperor’s throne. He was in the creature shop, and they were letting him play with things… My second son, Griffin, is more analytical and serious, and he says: ‘You know, _Star Wars_ movies just aren’t for me. They’re too commercial for my liking.’ My daughter [Chelsea] likes them. Kids are all different!” Mark Hamill portrayed Luke Skywalker across six of the nine Skywalker Saga films (all installments of the original and sequel trilogies), two Disney Plus shows chronlogically set between those trilogies (_The Mandalorian_ and _The Book of Boba Fett_), the animated series _Star Wars: Forces of Destiny_ , and the non-canon spin-off animated series _LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy_ and its sequel, _Pieces of the Past_.
