For this project, I based my work on the architecture of the Pathfinder probe, which landed on Mars in 1997 and brought back images of the surface, as well as—less well known—meteorological data.
Four acoustic horns allow it to hear everything, notably the sound emitted by three furin suspended from the mast-antenna. It is a modern-day message in a bottle, capturing and transmitting the sound of a distant wind.
The piece employs poor or unsuitable materials for their purpose, evoking a vision of space exploration marked by a nuanced social reality, where a foreboding sense of tragedy (ecological, economic, migratory) has permeated the longing for elsewhere.
