A CT image from a post-mortem on a marine mammal, with article details: 'Using post-mortem computed tomography to identify traumatic cranial lesions in small stranded odontocetes euthanised via ballistics' by Boys et al in the New Zealand Veterinary Journal.

Euthanasia can be the only humane option for stranded whales and dolphins, so it’s important to do it well. A new article in the NZVJ examines CT images to see whether techniques and protocols could be improved.
