A great movie, one that demands multiple viewings, gets the Luke & Matt treatment! Enjoy 😁

My feeling is that up to 1965 it's really the tail end of the classic period. Not a universally held belief, I realise ... 😁. I love SECONDS but ... nah!
My attempt at marking out the timeline during the mid to late 1960s when Film Noir evolved and reshaped itself into Neo-noir ... What did I miss?

Surprisingly witty!
Brill - must get it when it comes out on disc.
My niece got it for me. She is amazing. You should get the blue-ray though, great movie.
And how was it? I've always thought it would work better as a single film.
Blu-ray of ghost movie, THE SURVIVOR (1981)
Thank you to those lovely people from @indicator.bsky.social for my contributor copy of David Hemmings' twisty spookfest, The Survivor, starring Robert Powell and Jenny Agutter. Out now on Blu-ray and 4K UHD and, as you can see, it's a thing of beauty.

Despite some dodgy continuity, THE PHANTOM OF SOHO is a hugely entertaining 1960s Krimi. Utterly bananas in story terms, director Franz Josef Gottlieb keeps it moving at a great clip. Eureka's Blu-ray may be derived from an SD source (duly acknowledged) but they've done wonders with it.
Love this movie. Some people don't get it and I feel nothing but pity fir them.

Coincidentally, just watched this yesterday! Comparatively low wattage for a season 1 episode perhaps but loved it. Salmi is excellent and, according to the great and powerful Zicree, a very last minute replacement for Neville Brand.
Very seasonal 😆
As always, thank you very much Margot.
Welcome to our new season, Director Double Bills!

They did all the heavy lifting - found and restored film prints, programmed seasons of Powell's work, published interviews with him and Pressburger and published new studies on their work. Let's face it, Scorsese is more of a superfan 😆
A magnificent film. But with all due respect to Mr Scorsese, Ian Christie and Kevin Gough-Yates worked tirelessly in the 70s and 80s to reinstate Powell's reputation.
No fisticuffs in VICTIM, admittedly 🤣
Dearden made so many terrific films. You seen VICTIM? Today is Dirk Bogarde's birthday after all 😁

😁
Never seen it at the cinema and I reckon I missed out - always found it a bit too slow moving on the telly.
Now that is just the perfect start!
