I have no idea how "loon" happened nor what I intended that word to be. I use a Chromebook, and I've had random extra spaces, links on websites that won't work because of "too many redirects," and odd typos or autocorrects.
I admit not proofreading posts often enough, however.

USA gets: Deeper in debt. Already insolvent due to extreme debt and Trump wants more, which is just more insanity.
Clever! A stock market game to help national parks. Buy as share if you can, spread the word widely regardless.

Interesting. To me, some of it surprising, too.

Please stop complaining about $4 per gallon gas. It's $5.45 per gallon where I live (WA state), and I paid $4.45 per gallon the day that the current US regime and Israel started the war in Iran.
The Artemis II crew got a message from Jim Lovell, who recorded it before he died last year.
[Neither Lovell nor the Artemis crew said "man" nor "all mankind" this time. He said just "all" and they said "all humanity." That's one small step....]

We just tried to ban shooting bears in Washington, and an Ohio-based hunters organization is suing to reverse it.
How can we expect humans to see other live beings as worthy of living, too, and protection if we don't see other humans that way if they don't share our beliefs?
pedestrianising 300 school streets
Ack! Is that a British word?
Also known as making 300 school streets walkable. Real estate listings even have a rating for that, usually.
And at least the Artemis 2 astronauts said they're making the moon loon for "all of humanity," not "mankind."
Beautiful tribute.
This is really so profiteers won't be hindered by "endangered" species law.

I quit reading their editorials for that reason. The more who do, the less their opinions circulate.
No. It's more because of these 2 things:
People getting "news" from "independents": YouTube or Spotify podcasts, Substacks/newsletters -- personal opinions from "influencers"
Too many people no longer reading either books or publishers of real NEWS researched and written by journalists -- plural
True, mostly.
But to do that we need to truly understand how interconnected all life on Earth is -- all forms of life -- and to stop fighting and respect each other regardless of cultures, religions, politics.
Rather woo-woo, yes, but it sure beats how we're doing things now. So worth trying.
USA tax payers with incomes under specified levels ($69,000 - 89,000, typically) and simple tax returns have 2 options to file online using free software: H&R Block or Free File.
Dems in Congress are trying to get Direct File reinstated, but too iffy for this year.

Am I the only one who intensely dislikes podcasts and Substacks?
There are countless books and YouTube videos about using binaural beat technology for better sleep, etc. It's currently a fad.
The prelude to his announcement that he's running for president, I'll bet. He's a worthy candidate.
"Crisis of the Common Good" is a good title. But aren't we all sick of everything being about fighting, endlessly? I want a shift to a positive perspective + a PLAN.

Consider the opportunity costs of the war in Iran. The missiles might have been sent to Ukraine, to end that war. The money might have bought healthcare for Americans. The attention of Europe and Asia might have been focused on countering Russia and China, not re-opening the Strait of Hormuz
Per data from the International Renewable Energy Agency, renewable power made up almost 50% of the world’s electricity capacity last year after a record increase in solar installations. Solar capacity grew by 511 GW in 2025 to 2,392 GW, confirming its position as world's largest renewable source.
What to do if you find a baby bird? First, determine if it is a fledgling or a nestling.
If the bird is fully feathered and alert, it's probably a fledgling and has just begun learning how to fly: leave it alone, move away from the bird, and watch to ensure that an adult is caring for the bird.
And it's still about bullies motivated by profits and power.
Trying to give up wasting any of life on current politics and LIVE while I still can, instead. So, a diversion:
Paul Simon is 84 and embarking on a European tour! Interesting interview that takes a few minutes to ramp up but reveals a bit about Stephen Colbert, too.

(at top: NASA's "Earthrise" photo of Earth taken by astronauts) Global Peace, Harmony, and Respect for All The UN started this as a one-day, worldwide, synchronized meditation event. We need to keep it going for as long as it takes to create the world that we all know is possible. Every day, ideally between 10 AM and noon, spend just 1-5 minutes adding your energy to this intention. Simply focus your mind and heart on global peace, unity, and concern for all people, all life, and Earth. Imagine human consciousness evolving now to end war and global chaos and then to create a world where all live with mutual respect, in safety and sufficiency for all basic needs. Please share widely.
