Other solution being adding a custom natvis directory for Rider to search through.

But that works if you only use one MSBuild toolchain across all of your projects. Unless it's able to differentiate versioning.

Unreal Engine project is missing natvis for STL In an Unreal project, I'm dealing with some third-party code that uses the STL, and it doesn't display correctly in the debugger. For example, in `std::vector` all I can see are its 3 pointer field...

Other solution being copying the VS natvis file into an appropriate directory that Rider can find. rider-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/com...

This one arguably a more minimal change, since you're not changing an entire toolset. But changing the toolset is pretty fast and easy. Hmm.

I'm going to poke JetBrains and report this as a bug, it's pretty annoying this doesn't work.

I'm all for using their MSBuild tooling. But if their tooling doesn't work with the rest of their tooling, it's not a viable solution yet.

#JetBrains Rider #gamedev C++ tip!

❌On Windows Rider auto-selects its MSBuild, which is incompatible with Natvis lookup, which means variable watch view for complex data structures doesn't work properly.

✅Select VS's MSBuild, then restart your debugging process, your natvis should now be loading.

I have a personal backlog of 227 tasks on Todoist, (includes stale recurring). Total future/ongoing tasks is roughly 400. With more in both cases on Google Keep, etc.

Too much. AGhhhhh.

Free version *used* to allow third party plugin installation, but new version locked that down so you have to pay, b/c people were "taking advantage" by avoiding having to use built-in paid functionality.

So if you can't pay and need to use free, grab Resolve 19.0.3 and prior, not 19.1 and up.
