So clean energy, meant to replace fossil fuels and slow climate disasters? Looks like tech will steal that dream from us too, for sale to the highest bidders. AI, militaries, your employers and your cities. 😬

Yep - I live in Arizona, where we have been in a drought for decades. We need water to DRINK - not to further enrich billionaires.
I’d vote to recall anyone who signed an NDA. ESPECIALLY for a hedge fund, tech oligarch, and foreign interest. Geez. The only reason a public official signs an NDA is so they can sneakily abdicate their public duties knowing full well they are going to harm citizens and fair democracy.
Tucson! Last day to give the city your input on how you think they should build their data center projects here.
forms.office.com/pages/respon...
True, but Tucson's new proposed guidelines are pretty scary. A 400’ setback from houses and 200’ from business is crazy. As are NG generators. And they say air pollution is “not their jurisdiction” so tough luck for neighbors. A moratorium to protect folks health and property seems a better option.
I think they already got to our officials, of both parties, since 94% of the population doesn’t want this nightmare of destruction yet a majority of ‘our’ representatives are pushing ahead any way they can…the shenanigans never end 🙃😮💨
New polling from Pew shows what Americans think about data centers:
Only 6% think they're good for the quality of life for those nearby.
Similarly, only 6% think data center have a good impact on home energy costs.
And only 4% think they're good for the environment.
Ha.ha.ha. 🚫👑 Trumpty-Dumpty (wanted a crown)
Right. The race in Phoenix and Tucson to grow ‘economically,' and where officials green-light & build as many huge data centers as fast as possible is creating heat islands. Soon the rain will be pushed to peripherals and will not fall in these cities. Perhaps someone else’s aquifers will benefit.
And no, air cooling doesn’t work. Besides depleting resources, it is creating “heat islands” that warm the air so much the rain won’t fall in these areas anymore 😒
Building hyper-scale data centers in the Sonoran Desert where the air is grade “F” most of the summer, and where there is no water left for housing, farming, the environment, aquifer recharge, and oh, we’ll be losing shares of the Colorado River soon…so maybe no water for anyone!
Can lawmakers write ONE BILL that doesn’t turn into a grift? I’m 100% sure that WE already paid the passthrough tariffs from big biz, who will now hoover up these new giveaways…OF COURSE small biz will get left out (except lawmaker insiders like My Pillow or AI startups) 😆 Once again citizens pay 🤑
Yeah, well everything the GOP does now is illegal. They’re grifting the shit out of us all with no consequences, and act affronted when asked why they aren’t doing their jobs 😂😂
“He’s peddling the shit out of that thing.”
Shouldn't be surprised about the monetizing any more…but still, always a gut punch. And of course, Rueben Gallego @gallego.senate.gov from Arizona, who fills those Sinema shoes so well 😒
Is there any ‘public' left in ‘service'?
For those want to participate in the #NoKingsRally today, but can't physically attend an event due to any number of hurdles/challenges, #StandUpForScience has organized a virtual rally you can join online. ☺️

Yeah, sounds like Ciscomani, who has never shown up once for Tucson and lies like a dog 🐩 every chance he gets. He couldn't care less about his constituents. Loves a photo op (and mirrors) though, even drags his kids into them. Ugh.
Cool photo. Looks like a dancing dervish amongst them.
Good question, time will tell if AG Mayes strategy is better than others. AZ AG IS fighting huge electric rate increases (data centers) plus this👇 and probably IS working on concentration camps. Of all the electeds, sometimes seems she’s the only one fighting!

If you make under $184k, you pay a 12.4% Social Security tax rate. Everything after that cap is exempt from the tax.
So if you make $1 million per year, you pay about 2.2%. And it's 0.002% for billionaires.
If we lifted the cap, Social Security could be funded for decades.
Congratulations JoAnna Mendoza @joannamendoza.com for getting on the ballot to squash this big ugly bug! It’s not only retirees Juan refuses to protect (or even talk to) he is destroying constitutional rights, ENVIRONMENT, health care, fair elections, economy... #AZ06 deserves better. Support JoAnna
Exactly! How data centers will affect YOU in Tucson, Marana, and Pima County!
Are we willing to open our wallets to TEP; just hand them a ton more profit while we struggle?

I just wrote a @theactionnetwork.bsky.social letter: Community voices matter — don’t let them be sidelined in federal decision-making! . Write one here: actionnetwork.org/letters/comm...
Thank you. And I see TEP is now blitzing social media with target ads. Using OUR money to clean up THEIR image…then asking us for more. Unbelievable!
"Intelligence played no role"
Always a little kernel of truth.
Who's still screaming #4B?
Besides me, I mean.
No more children. Not until we can stop selling them as sex toys to the elites on the black market.
Goldman Sachs reports that 300 million full-time jobs could be replaced by AI by 2030. Labor turnover is high and hiring has slowed. 71% of Americans worry that AI will cause permanent job loss. As young people about to enter the workforce for the first time, the fear of unemployment is understandable, but we cannot save ourselves with the very tool that is putting us at risk. The irony is that as Penn pours endless money and energy into AI advancement in its attempt to get ahead, the University is only quickening its own demise. AI cannot coexist with education — it can only degrade it. As technology advances and workers are replaced by machines, schools are some of the only places we have left to explore and wrestle with human thought. With our own university leading the charge, AI is now corrupting those few sacred spaces and leaving us with nowhere to engage in true scholarship. Editorials represent the majority view of members of The Daily Pennsylvanian Editorial Board who meet regularly to discuss issues relevant to the Penn community. This body is led by Editorial Board Chair Jack Lakis and is entirely separate from the newsroom. Questions or comments should be directed to letters@thedp.com.
An unaccounted for part of the economy is how much young people virulently hate AI, despite how aggressively it's being forced on them. They realize it's making their friends dumber and ruining the world and they want nothing to do with it.

"What we don’t seem to have," @mikegrunwald.bsky.social writes, "is a sense that we’re all in this together, that we should all try to do our part for energy security, national security and the health of the planet."
And now more datacenter pollution. Thanks Pima County, Heinz, and Scott. TEP, Marana & Tucson.
For the children 🥀
