The Folly of Seizing Kharg Island The war with Iran is into its fifth week, and despite much of its military power being destroyed by U.S. and Israeli strikes, Tehran has yet to give in or

Kharg Island may look like a decisive option in the war with Iran. But what seems simple on paper could turn far more dangerous in practice.

1. Monarchist Iranians bow down to place flowers at the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles, saying “thank you, Bibi” and affectionately calling him “Bibi joon.”

Like they’re in some sort of trance.

Agree. His off ramp is to strictly adhere to the ceasefire agreement and hang Bibi and Bonesaw out to dry. This is his offramp if he is smart enough to take it.

Some thoughts about the President of the United States speaking about ending a civilization. The president speaks genocide. Anyone who has been involved in that conversation or associated actions would be complicit. And so we too must speak. Not only about crimes, but about their legal punishment.

What I’m seeing here is a two week pause for Iran to rake a few billion dollars in toll money and resupply from russia and China while they resupply the Houthis.

No idea what happens after that.

I'm going to point out that complete strategic defeats are what Trump does best. Like abandoning the Kurds and Afghanistan. Trump was lucky enough that the date for quitting Afghanistan was after Biden became President, but the deal was signed Feb 2020, before the election.

None of that is true as it's a complete strategic defeat for the US.

▫️ Lifting of sanctions.
▫️ Termination of UN Security Council and IAEA Board of Governors resolutions.
▫️ Payment of compensation.
▫️ Withdrawal of US troops.
▫️ Cessation of hostilities.

🇺🇸 The US has not commented.

🇵🇰 Meanwhile, talks between Iran and the US are scheduled for April 10 in Islamabad

If Orbán Loses Hungary's Election, It Will Dispel the Air of Invincibility Around Strongmen This would prove that consolidating power does not protect authoritarians from self-destructing, especially when a smart opposition exploits their vulnerabilities

Why does Vance care whether Orban wins? Because if he loses, it will challenge the MAGA belief that history flows in only one direction

I'm thinking that a Trump endorsement, particularly given his current behavior, is going to help wreck Orban.

Orban is likely to challenge the election when it goes bad for him. I'm also thinking that there will be HUGE public demonstrations in response. Is the fascist tide going out?

Iran’s Anti-Access and Area Denial Strategy Is Cruder Than China's But Still Dangerous In past wars, commanders worried about what would happen after crossing the line of departure. Today, the concern is whether they can cross it at all.

Iran’s military approach is built to wear down an opponent before a larger fight even begins.

How much money made on polymarket this time I wonder? Now watch the narrative turn as MAGA and the media return to “4D chess” and “art of the deal”. Infuriating but probably the least worst outcome- until next time. Still - all this seems dependent on Iran actually opening the Strait - will they?

So a ceasefire (good) but also seems that Iran gets to cheap charging tolls on the Strait of Hormuz. So the dust settles and Iran can generate massive amounts of new income. Hmmm

An aged and compromised Commander-in-Chief is losing his grip on reality, increasing dangers at home and for our brave troops overseas.

Threatening to inflict massive civilian casualties is un-American; the stuff of cruel dictators.

Republicans should no longer stand idly by.
