This is very cool. A bike repair place based in #Nottingham that aims to give space for women to learn bike maintenance. They have so many events coming up!

I'm doing a bit of a clearance of my bookshelves 📚 , using the money raised to fund the Morning Briefing.

A particularly cool book on sale is Outer Wilderness, which is an art book that I've drawn a bunch of inspiration from for environments to use in #ttrpgs […]

Nottinghamshire council shake-up enters final week of consultation Final week to comment on plans to replace Nottinghamshire’s current council system with two new unitary authorities, with a government decision expected this summer.

Biggest change to councils in #Nottingham for 50 years. We only have until Thursday to tell the government which new council you want to be in.

I saw Sweeney Todd at the theatre FOUR DAYS AGO and it hasn't left my head since.

It's one of my favourites, but lots of earworms.

There was a brief interlude last night where I had "LETS GO PANTHERS" on a loop, but I can tell you all that today we've returned to "it's fop! finest in the shop!"

The repeat, most frustrating part of my work day is when I open the fuzzy file finder and start typing "factorysellist" because I want the RSpec factory for Selling::Listing.

AND NOTHING SHOWS UP> YOU KNOW WHY?

Because the folder is `factories`.

Computers are dumb. I hate them.

This happens […]

Non-members are welcome for that night too. Bringing your nodes and we can figure out what to do with them. DM me for […]

These e-bikes are a danger, not just themselves, but to lawful cyclists too. It boils my blood to share a bike lane with them whilst they're whizzing past at 30 mph, checking their Deliveroo app.

I don't feel like 5 bikes confiscated is a big enough number […]

Very exciting, energising moment!

The Nottingham Post have a story today about a the benches that the British Heart Foundation are doing to raise awareness of genetic disease.

It's exciting is because I wrote about that 2 days ago.

It's fun to know that I can "scoop" the bigger papers and […]

Fun fact: the British Heart Foundation have a 24 hour press enquiry phone line, where (amongst other things) you can ask for permission to use their copyrighted content for your tiny news website at 11:30pm.

Search Console screenshot with "53 not indexed" and "12 indexed".

As much as I've de-googled, I suppose the morningbriefing.org does have to take part into order to get some traffic.

Indexing is going very slowly - it's been days of "please come back tomorrow", but something appears to have happened over night. It seems to have […]

I am interested more in the research behind this idea.

Is it that kids hang out with police officers and they decide not to break the law? Or is it that (and this is my guess) they're hanging out with people in clubs and that reduces antisocial behaviour in general? […]

A poster explaining the text of the toot.

Goodness. 4 years since the full scale invasion of Ukraine. I remember going to the first rally's and hoping we'd only need to run them for a few weeks. How sadly wrong I was.

Lets not turn our back on this. I hope to see you there too.

On Tuesday 24th Feb is a […]

Not to brag, but if anthropic had paid me $20,000 and given me a month I'd also have been able to write them a very shitty C compiler.

After many years of explaining "don't rely on code comments, instead make your code clearer", we're now adding comments back in... so the AI Agent (a computer) can better understand.

If anyone knows of places doing pancakes on Pancake Day in the evening, lemme know! I’m not having much luck.

This is for #nottingham. Looks like Heavenly Desserts (incredibly sweet in general) are the only place I can think of.

From June to December I had a very successful sabbatical.

In January, I decided to start www.morningbriefing.org, which is very exciting. I'm really enjoying it.

It is a shame I discovered this excitement six months too late! This feels a bit like juggling two jobs.

Today I had two interviews […]

Varsity ice hockey quickly sold out, before it even appeared on the Motorpoint website.

Sad to only just now hear about Notts Varsity. I would love to go see this particular hockey game with two local teams.

Uni hockey isn't something I've paid much attention to. Do either uni have their own rink? I haven't really spotted either on the NIC schedule […]

National Year of Reading 2026 | Go All In Bring reading closer to culture in 2026. Discover ideas, events and ways to take part at home, school, work and in your community.

This year is the Nation Year of Reading in the UK. I really want to get back into dedicated reading time - my stack of books is toppling under its own weight.

The promo video on the campaign website is really good.
