All hail the translucent goo! This is excellent news.

Ce commentaire sur "Comment lire Lacan," livre de Slavoj Žižek... 😄
- open thesis chapter document
- see that it’s just over 3,500 words long
- try not to freak out that 6,000 words need to be in it by the 13th
- read through the current set of words
- delete all the ones I don’t like
- now it’s 2,837 words long

My PhD supervisor just published this paper about first-person authority over gender, i.e. why we should believe people when they tell us what gender they are. Not that this should need to be argued...

I read this paragraph so many times in my attempt to understand it that even my computer gave up and fell asleep 😂🤯🫠 #Lacan #PhDlife #philosophy
...and then looking for a 'How to read Lacan' guide and finding that the most popular one is written by none other than Slavoj Žižek, king of the labyrinthine and convoluted writing style, does not bode well.
The abject horror of the realisation that Lacan is in fact highly relevant to my PhD so I'm going to have to just roll up my sleeves and work out how to read him... 🫠 #phdlife #philosophy
OK so I've previously read all the statistics etc., but jfc attempting to make a promotional video for my PhD, which is about pregnancy + childbirth, using stock video clips is really underlining how ALL the default options are heterosexual white people. smh
Just a brief PSA to anyone who might find it helpful: refried beans and wet cat food look very similar. It is therefore important that you double check which one you are holding before spooning it into your tortilla. 🤢😄
I got an email this morning informing me that 2019 was seven years ago and it turned out they're right. SEVEN YEARS?! What is this timeline.
tfw you present a paper about death, abuse and trauma, yet somehow by the end of the conference people are saying "we should ask Chindilani that question, she's the love and peace one."
I mean, it's not the first expression that springs to mind when I'm asked to define myself, but I'll take it 😁
t-shirt that reads 'my unyielding melancholy brings all the existentialists to the yard'
Presented at a conference for other existential psychotherapists and philosophers this afternoon, so obviously I had to dress appropriately 😁
brb just gonna scream this through a loudspeaker in every street until ppl start to understand it
- open the doc you were working on last time
- read the 207 words you wrote
- delete 33 of them

The outdoor wheelchair has gone to the great wheelchair graveyard in the sky. Thank you for your service, friend ❤️
(Now we have to see how long I’m stuck indoors before the NHS gets me a new one…)
P.S. Yes, this wheelchair brand is called ‘Karma.’ Which feels like an… interesting… decision 😂
I have a conference presentation next weekend and a thesis chapter due the week after that.
So anyway, who’s heard of fridgescaping? 😂
Hmm, which part of my thesis am I working on today?
...ah yes, I remember.
I’m presenting at this conference next Saturday morning. My presentation is about the overlap between psychotherapy and philosophy, and how engaging with being-towards-death in a Heideggerian sense can make us better therapists.
Come along!

Admittedly there aren’t loads of advantages to being in a wheelchair, but one of them is that if you have the right equipment you can do your PhD in the park ⛲️ ☀️💚
A notebook with some writing about the philosophy of nonsense.
“What are you writing about today, Chindi?”
“Oh, just some nonsense.”
“Don’t be self-deprecating.”
“…I’m not.” 😁
Ah, the joys of dysphagia, aka eating a piece of toast by swallowing most of it and then hawking the rest of it back up through your nasal canal 🤢
Speaking of the backrooms... as a longtime lurker in liminal spaces, this is the film I'm most looking forward to this year.
AAAAANYWAY, back to the thesis.

White text on a black background reads: r/cryptiddogs - what makes a dog a cryptiddog? What's the thing called where you see faces in stuff? Perceived (/uncertain) intent? Can be resolvable but doesn't have to be. If resolved, stops being uncanny. ('the collapse.' -- falling?) LIMINALITY Backrooms -- religion? (liminality + sacricore)
At the end of each writing session I make a few notes about where I plan to go next. Opening my thesis doc today has informed me that I am planning to think about Reddit's r/cryptiddogs forum, pareidolia, the backrooms, and the sacricore aesthetic, among other things.
I had heard from multiple sources that The Human Centipede 2 was more horrifying than the first one.
Who knows what could possibly be worse than creating a human centipede, I wondered?
This film does. This film knows.
And now, unfortunately, so do I.

The words 'phantom TROUSERS' in a Notes app
Today in "notes I half-woke-up and wrote in the middle of the night because they apparently felt very important at the time"
What if the home that raised you suddenly turned against you?
A confused but nonetheless haunting exploration of intergenerational trauma, dementia and spatiotemporal memory.

On March 14th I will be speaking at this event re. the overlap between psychotherapy and philosophy. My talk will focus on an experience I had during therapy training which really underlined to me what it means to be-with another. Come along if you can! It's on Zoom.

stg having this unexpectedly pop up in full-screen right in front of my face when I opened a new tab nearly gave me a heart attack 😅
