I agree with that point. But sometimes I think people take “don’t impose it on each other” as “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t talk about it” instead of “how can we have a dialogue about our different beliefs and worldviews and learn from one another.”

But mutual respect doesn’t come from shutting down any talk or expression of religion—and when that occurs, it can be just as repressive. A healthy secular society is one that fosters religious and spiritual plurality, rather than repressing practice and expression of religious faith.
