Live right now: Artemis II astronauts' science debriefing with the team back on Earth

FYI if you’re talking about the #Artemis II mission and you want to get the spaceflight terminology right, the mission is “crewed,” not “manned.” (NASA made the terminology change official decades ago, so this isn’t new, but a lot of folks just aren’t aware.)

Book description: "It’s five years since the end of the Dominion War. Jake Sisko is back on Earth after a long journey round the Gamma Quadrant, finishing up his book about what life is like out there after the collapse of the Dominion. It looks like Jake has a great life—travel, success, and a writing career that’s going from strength to strength. The only problem is—everyone wants a piece of Jake Sisko. Whether it’s Starfleet Intelligence, full of questions about his trip through the wormhole, or the Bajoran people, anxious to be close to the son of their departed Emissary, Jake is struggling to carve out space for himself. Then there are the rumors Jake heard out in the Gamma Quadrant. Rumors about Starfleet, and his father, and their conduct during the war. Rumors which—if they turned out to be true—would rock the very foundations of Jake Sisko’s world… Jake accepts an invitation to an arts festival on Cardassia Prime, hoping to get some distance between himself and his worries. But even here, the past won’t leave him alone. Starfleet Intelligence are still interested, and there are people on Cardassia, too, for whom Jake Sisko seems to offer unique opportunities to advance their agendas. Jake flees into the Cardassian desert, joining a tour of ancient archeological sites. And then, when the party is isolated from the rest of the world, the murders begin…"
Set five years after the end of STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE, the new Jake Sisko-centric novel "The Peacemakers" is coming in November from author @unamccormack.bsky.social

The DC Breakout Arkham Asylum game, where pairs of villains roll-and-move to a finish line. The roster is a neat mix of Batman the Animated Series designs, some Batman ‘66 characters, and stars of the Suicide Squad movies.

Before he died, Jim Lovell recorded a special wakeup message for #ArtemisII when they passed the Apollo 13 distance record. And I'm crying all over again. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMfZ...
I'm providing commentary over on the ABC News site if you want to follow!

I was working at my local cafe when #ArtemisII passed the Apollo 13 distance record. I literally high-fived the stranger next to me. They hadn't heard ANYTHING about this mission so I just gushed emotionally for like five minutes, pointing stuff on the #NASA live feed.
Thank you! Happy Moon Day!

Thinking about them this morning.

For somewhat obscure reasons, I do a lot more UK media than North American media (last week I was live on Sky News). I think I'm especially useful to them over there because I tend to be awake during time slots in which their local regulars are sleeping 🙃
Incredible
Happy First Contact Day, btw!

Happy First Contact Day to all those who dream of a post-capitalist socialist utopia.

Science News from research organizations Scientists uncovered the nutrients bees were missing - Colonies surged 15-fold A lab-made diet supercharged bee colonies and could help save our food supply. Date: March 27, 2026 Source: University of Oxford Summary: Scientists have developed a breakthrough "superfood" for honeybees by engineering yeast to produce the essential nutrients normally found in pollen. In controlled tri-als, colonies fed this specially designed diet produced up to 15 times more young, showing a dramatic boost in reproduction and overall health. As climate change and modern agriculture reduce the availability of natural pollen, this innovation could offer a practical way to support struggling bee populations.
Thank you University of Oxford! 🐝🌎
