“You’re alienating half of your audience by being political”
Motherfucker, my “audience” is people who aren’t pieces of shit, who care about others. That’s who I make stuff for.
There is no “other half”.

all these universities kept axing medieval history departments as if they thought tyrants beefing with the Pope was going to stop being relevant
They never have cupim. :-(
Dismantle DHS. Abolish and prosecute ICE. Citizenship and amnesty for all immigrants who have not committed a violent crime.
That’s the bare minimum and we can’t accept anything less.
This is REALLY interesting -- DGAT1 is the largest QTL we consistently see in dairy cattle, where a variant is associated with higher milk fat production.
I want to bankroll a national push poll of registered Republicans.
Q1: Do you still support President Trump?
If YES, Q2: Since you said yes, let me ask you: would you like to buy these magic beans I have for sale?
It’s just like mom always said: god fucking dammit

I was not prepared for a take this spicy.
Hearst: U.S. Rep. John Larson of Connecticut has filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, accusing the president of war crimes and piracy.

I know it's not in vogue but I still believe that making moral arguments is good.

So, at work they're going to roll out Google Gemini AI "tools". Apparently, it's not possible to make it opt-in, it gets turned on for everyone and you have to opt-out. Seems to me that if the tools were so obviously valuable Google wouldn't try to force you to use them.
If you're in Southern Wisconsin or Northern Illinois and you like quilts or aviation, you should come to my wife's solo show at the Kelch Aviation Museum in Brodhead, WI. The opening reception is 1-3 PM on Sunday, April 12.

@baldwin.senate.gov, nobody is answering your phones in your Washington, DC office. That's surprising given the magnitude of the current situation. Can you please tell us Wisconsinites what, specifically, you're doing about the president's threats to commit genocide against the Iranian people?
Big band jazz Dad here. I'm picking up what you're putting down.
One of the casualties of the modern era is sincerity, which is now viewed suspiciously, or characterized as "cringe". It's difficult for folks to understand people who express genuine joy or wonder with no ulterior motive. After all, isn't everyone running a side hustle all the time? It's sad.
You don’t have to watch Trump talking with the astronauts on Artemis II. You don’t have to let his voice ruin this in your memory too.
Keep your joy and wonder precious.
OMG, this is awful. IIRC, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (which they're also trying to destroy) has an LTER site.
i think we should be clear that just because the astronauts did not immediately declare the moon haunted, does not mean it is not haunted
it may mean that the astronauts are now themselves haunted
have we prepared for this eventuality and if so how
so yes, there is always a sodding path to redemption. but you have to fucking walk it. without applause, and without fanfare. you walk it even when people don't believe you. you keep on walking it because it is the right thing to do. you allow your soul to be changed by the path.
"Dead Money" can seriously get bent. I'm this close to using a console command to get back to the elevator.
Listening in to the live Artemis II feed. I love the way they talk about everything (jargon, acronyms, plaing English) . Like a bit ago, an astronaut was talking emotionally about how beautiful the views were of the approaching moon, and Houston's CapCom person responded plainly “Copy. Moon joy.”
Two tweets from pro bird rights. Maybe I should paint some of your babby and hide them around. See how you like it. Happy Easter. I have hidden your human childs
Maybe not funniest ever but perfect for Easter 🐣
I'm glad the US pilot is safe but the sheer discrepancy shown by most Americans of all political stripes between the value of the life a soldier who *literally signed up for this shit* and the value of the lives of thousands of civilians who didn't is indefensible under any coherent moral code
I don't know how anyone else feels about this, but to me, sharing a screenshot of chatbot output to make a point of some kind is an excellent way to undermine any credibility that might otherwise be granted to you in the context of whatever you're trying to say.

Poor people don't "deserve" free services if they're not angelically perfect and being poor the right way. Rich people don't "deserve" free services because they could afford to pay.
Here's a thought! Public services should be services for The Public--i.e. EVERYONE.
