The nerds are building a new internet, and I could feel it in the room The AT Protocol is a quiet attempt to rebuild social software the way email was built — open, portable, owned by no one. A meetup in Portland this week made the stakes feel real.

I wrote something about atproto from the perspective of having lived through the early days of the internet.

SRT is the main one I'll actually ask for.
But for my wishlist, CEA-608 is the one I'd love to see.
But at the very least, one of those, because it's really bothered me that Bluesky doesn't support any of the caption formats FCP exports to.

my talk was about interoperability and i have a whole section about how devs cling onto the idea of a persistent social graph bc it's an easy way to explain the protocol if it works for both moving between apps and between PDSes.
then i get into the practicality of interop in different categories.

fixed & building (get on the testflight build if u don't wanna be at apple's mercy)

for ppl interested:
the issue was 3-fold
1. our editor's export was misconfigured, it bloated sizes
2. videos were re-exported even if no edits were made
3. no user-facing errors were shown if videos went over 100mb

On a pink background:
Spark logo

New:
Mentions in Stories

A picture of an iPhone with the Spark story composer. A picture of a code editor on the screen of a laptop. Tilted text with a white background is overlayed on the left: "Me cooking on the new update for" and on the right, another overlayed text in a different font and bolded, slightly larger than the other overlay and reading: "@sprk.so".

Buttons are on the bottom of the screen below the image to add more elements or filters to the image, and above it, buttons to go back or post the story.

it's vibes-based critiques of vibe-coding

Software bugs are not a valid critique of LLMs in the field of software engineering; humans can and do introduce bugs in applications without any assistance of machines and likely at higher rates.

>upstream service provider shits itself and dies
>half this site: "HAHAHAHAHAHA SEE IT'S BECAUSE YOU FUCKERS ARE *VIBE CODING*"

I wish these people would just leave. They contribute less than nothing to the site at large at this point.
