Before my birthday comes up tomorrow, I'd like to see some people take a crack at this.
This one too. feel free to draw them together however you guys want.

Is bsky & elsewhere really broken again today?
Funny enough when I showed a portion of this to my friend, they gave them a voice cast of this guy from the Polar Express: www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2uZ...
Now that next week is Spring Break for me, I can try just focusing on my own ideas, or just take a long deserved break.
I'll still post my art as well as check & respond to DMs. I simply won't be checking any of the feeds or timelines.
Been considering taking a break from looking at my social medias next week.
Just been so busy with school while eyeballing what's going on here so often that I think a mental reset is in order.
bsky.app/profile/pixe... I luckily did find a work around if you're willing to make images very huge.

I was initially upscaling at x4 from 480 x 270 , but it looks like x10 or more is now mandatory in terms of crisp pixel art.
Which sucks but ayy, what can you do.🤷
Alright good news, there is a way around the shitty webp compression to where the images I post come out clear.
The bad news is that images must be upscaled to around 4800px (pixels) or more.
Did some extra testing. apparently compression & file sizes aren't even entirely consistent. what the fuck even is this format?!
I did some testing with the Webp format, I did not like what I found out. So apparently, not only is Bluesky forcing image uploads as webp, but it's as their worst versions.
You can try making your own lossless webp with exponentially better compression, it doesn't matter as it will be reconverted with crappier results on here.
I hope bluesky fixes this, because this is so awful.
Instead, they went with the worst compression option that's almost on par with the original files in terms of storage space & there's no way of changing that from the look of things on here.
What I mean is in terms of quality, the people at Bluesky could've tried to convert webp as lossless with better storage space. I honestly would've preferred that since art posted here would be reconverted as jpeg without hassle or loss in quality.

Like... how can it blur some parts while the other parts remain crisp?!
I know some are mad about it for different reasons in terms of compatibility with other software, but from my perspective the fact that it can alter pixels already upscaled pisses me off even further.
So I just figured out what's causing the image blurring for the last piece I did. It's because the image is being reconverted into webp by bluesky.
Because of how the format works, images will suffer degradation.
Wow, this sucks
If I figure out the issue, I'll be sure to repost this.
Huh, somethings going on with the rendering of the image for some reason. The actual png looks fine on my end so it could be Bluesky messing with the resolution.
