Spent a chunk of yesterday making an emulator test ROM for exactly how the Super Game Boy's "a packet from the Game Boy is available" register should work, because I thought Ares was doing it very wrong but I didn't want to file a bug report without proof: github.com/ares-emulato...

A mapper lets an NES cartridge use far more memory than the 40 KiB that the system was originally designed for. Watch me emulate a few mappers.

Sumit Khanna reports that the cost per gigabyte of memory for desktop computers has had no net improvement since 2009. The present RAM shortage has erased a decade and a half of gains.

Once I added a rudimentary SDL2 front end to my NES emulator, I could interact with it and play a game.

I took the Super Game Boy code I made for Petal Crash GBC and made a code example that shows off booting custom SNES code and then having the Game Boy side send files to the SNES as needed.

Sometimes it feels like social media operates in exactly this way. Our posts end up in front of people inclined to take them exactly the wrong way.

Nivins the white rabbit from Disney's Alice in Wonderland says "Today is Good Friday. Don't be late for gift basket day on Resurrection Sunday!" Made with Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories template in Death Generator by Alice Averlong
It is the anniversary of Jesus's death as payment for the sins of all humankind. The rabbits have prepared gift baskets filled with eggs, candy, and tracts.

4 steps to draw #sprites in an NES #emulator
- copy the display list to OAM (memory in the PPU)
- scan OAM for sprites that overlap each line
- fetch their patterns from video memory between lines
- shift the pixels out during the next line

Occasionally, merpeople have to haul out onto the beach. They move on land by placing the tail and one hand forward and then scooting the butt up to reach them. They might operate a car with hand controls (Brodie knob for steering and gas/brake lever).
Regarding the question in alt text: I'll keep my arms.
Without legs, you still have two strong arms to scoot around on (pictured), and you still have fine manipulators to make and use tools (which is what makes us human).
Diddy Wishingwell, a purple cow with yellow headfur and no legs wearing a yellow sleeveless dress with blue floral print and an orange bottom, rings a triangle in front of a red barn to call the other Weebles to the dinner table. Still from Weebles episode "Mac & Cheese, Please! Beans & Franks? Thanks!" (2005)
Unless they happened to grow up in the mid-2000s, and their idea of a cow with no legs is Diddy from the Weebles cartoon.
Character Options Weebles x Bluey figure 4-pack
Or like the Bluey Weebles from 2022
Bobcats are kinda over rated don't you think? So from here on in I am gonna be drawing Star mainly as a Blobcat instead.
My #emulator takes a ROM filename on the #CommandLine, among other options. I use the #musl library's #getopt to parse the command in C. It makes me appreciate the libraries that come with newer languages like Python.

The PPU in my NES emulator builds a background, renders it, and interrupts the CPU at vertical blanking.

Wally (brown hair, green button shirt) from Weebles House playset (1989) has invited over a few guests. Another Wally (blue vest) is inside the front door, Wendy (black hair, yellow shirt with purple flower) and Triggles (goose in green hat and pink overalls) are in the garden on the roof of the garage, Luca (brown spiky hair, glasses) is on the second floor behind Wally's dog Wiggles, Woodsman (green tunic and beret and yellow bow) is running the riding lawn mower, and Jill (red pigtails, yellow dress with white collar) and a They Roll Too girl (blonde pigtails, red dress, holding doll) are using the play equipment on the patio.
I don't remember the egg-shaped Weebles from the 1970s, but I remember the Weebles from late 1980s, 2005, and 2016.
Hogie Wobnobbin figure from Weebles Weehicles 2-pack set (2004). Maroon pig with no legs wearing blue sweater with orange trim.
Hey I know that Weeble at top left. It's Hogie!
See how I made my NES emulator's CPU pass all 9,000 steps of Kevin Horton's nestest

PROTIP: If you're bringing several dolls/plushies to bed for a special occasion, you can prop two of them on each of your spare pillows. This creates a bit of grade separation, like a separated bike lane.
