For those who are surprised, remember, this writing will not be able to describe entire my religion or beliefs because my own religion and beliefs are broad and complex. But indeed, I am a Muslim, that my religion is Islam, whatever how I follow Islam.

I know and understand that truth can come from anywhere, not just from the 12 imams. Following them does not directly make faith stronger, because faith returns to each individual. Also, if holiness is real, it is not only the Prophet Muhammad and his ahl al-bayt who are holy, everyone can be holy.

There is no religion whatsoever which does not have smaller sects or denominations within it. Therefore, no matter how many branches of Islam there are, Islam is one, Islam is Islam. Am I a Shiite Muslim? Am I a Sunni Muslim? What if I tell you I'm both?

People may say that I am a Shiite Muslim and not a Sunni Muslim, that I follow Shia Islam and not Sunni Islam. Well, that is not correct because I identify myself as a Muslim and a Muslim is a Muslim, whatever sect or denomination they follow. This must be understood.

I want to say that I believe in the 12 imams but I myself do not make them the only guide to my Islam. Honestly, this is not new, in fact it has been around for a long time. I shouldn't be writing this but this is to answer those who used to misunderstand my Islam.

This is a poster of the 12 imams of the ahl al-bayt in the tradition of Twelver Shi'ism, the largest branch of Shia Islam. According to them, the imams are holy and infallible, free from all mistakes and sins, and are the spiritual and political successors of the Prophet Muhammad.
