This is a reminder of all the small bits of work that go into making a game work "as expected." I just had to write a bit of code to prevent a player from constantly re-opening the confirmation dialog while the game fades out the screen to quit the game.

For real, I think working in limited NES specs has been very good for me. It forces me to be more intentional in my color choices.

The closer I get to finishing my current #nesdev project, the more ideas for new projects keep popping into my head. I've got at least 5 ideas burning a hole in my head trying to get out.
That's all well and good, but please, for the love of #gamedev, let me finishing my current game first!

What can I say. The NES era Draqon Quest and Final Fantasy had quite an effect on me.
One of Lin's signature tools is the Stardust Pendant they receive from their mother. This pendant will let them re-roll a limited number of times in combat to score critical hits or evade enemy attacks.

I implemented some new UI based on my mockups to provide menus for my game that hopefully strike a balance of being attractive while not over-powering the game itself. My first thought was to try an explictly 8-bit aesthetic, but it felt too on-the-nose for me.

A trademark might have stunted the spread of creatures like Mimics around the fantasy landscape.
A Mimic is a classic staple of fantasy games. You open up a chest expecting to find gold coins and instead encounter malevolent eyes and a horrid, grasping tongue.

It took a bit of refactoring, but now a player can change frame styles without restarting the NES game being emulated. Totally worth the effort!
