Pain and suffering are a natural part of life and, unfortunately, unavoidable. For me, #vegan doesn't mean pain free or death free but “free from (life long) torture”. Most animals are farm animals and are tortured by humans from birth to death. For our pleasure.

The robin, crow couple and the Redstar (arriving from Africa in spring, now 1 month earlier) have lived for many generations where I live. Longer than I have. I’m their new human. What I do impacts their home, not the other way around. I try to limit my and restore the damages of previous humans.

Yes. I was just watching blackbirds for two hours. The purpose of life. They are in decline, as everything wild is but still around.
They don’t sing much during midday but are mighty busy in spring.
When we lack (basic survival) values, we can only react and not act. When we can only react, we see symptoms like CO2 or fossil fuels instead of causes like humans and non-human food animals. Priceless VS Valueless.

The human hero complex is a symptom, not a cause. Like "more protein". Human entitlement is the very definition of depression, abuse, trauma, torture and sadism. It’s what makes us unique and why we will soon go extinct.

It’s the “common” species that are our canary in the coal mine. Their decline scared me the most.
