I do agree that this looks suspicious if @aubiv.bsky.social cannot confirm that she lived in Brazil four years ago. However, for now, I am assuming innocence because people do immigrate to the United States from Brazil regularly and face transphobia (causing Aubiv to be kicked out) in the U.S.

Thank you for these screenshots. Have you contacted the Instagram account to make sure the two are not actually the same person? A person can be 17 years old in Brazil as of four years ago (that's when eii_rhanna and unha_staok last posted) and struggle to pay rent in the United States now.

This lawmaker is a lawmaker, so I would assume they are wealthy enough to make a choice to leave or stay, but some legislators are required to live and work in Florida to keep their job; it's called a residency requirement. For any Floridian, a residency requirement ties them to the state.

I didn't say that everyone in Florida is forced against their will to be in Florida. This is an example of one of the horrible things that happen to women/AFAB folks, and she blamed the wrong people because she had a conservative mindset. We can dislike and feel bad for a person simultaneously.

Very little is more humiliating than having specifically YOUR utilities shut off, especially if you gneuinely can't afford to pay. I'm hoping we come up with enough money for Lego!

The only reason I would stop helping a person who claims to be destitute is if there was actual evidence somewhere that they did something horribly wrong or was proven to be a scammer. If you spend all this time accusing people, you could be spending it compiling an evidence document.

When will people understand that this is not helpful for promoting a culture of trust? When a REAL homeless person needs mutual aid and we get responses like this, it perpetuates a cycle of harm. There are a lot less people feigning abject poverty than people actually in poverty. Just help them.

I face a dilemma every day: do I trust these people and spend resources on them, or do I ignore them at the potential cost of them actually not being scammers? All I've seen you doing is attack homeless people and accuse them without providing a modicum of evidence.

I get very upset when people do not know a person's life situation and assume a person can pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Homeless people with chronic illnesses cannot find jobs and don't "turn their disability off" when they become street homeless. It just makes them sicker.
