It's a great used find!

I thought that would be nice for my collection!
I haven't seen the movie, so I'll have to compare after I read.
CUJO by Stephen King – an old cover of the book that refers to King as "the author of Firestarter"
Picked this up today at South Jersey Geekfest! It's been on my TBR for a while.
And they're great reads, too!
Life is too short not to read a book that was written well and by an actual human being.
"Where's that in the employee code of #conduct?" He's smiling, even though the jug I'm carting smells like fermented cat litter. My nostrils burn.
"I added it," I say, tipping the cart. The jug rolls into George's office and lands with a thud. "It's not inappropriate if it's deserved." #vss365
Paperback of ERASURE by Percival Everett on top of a flyer about Rutgers–Camden Writers House
Grateful to have seen and met Percival Everett today at a nice author talk and reception at Rutgers University–Camden!
Oh man
If it sufficiently freaks you out, that means high stars, not low stars! It means you did your job!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Having a new body was #frustrating enough. He twisted his mid-section, the folds of his skin squelching as they flattened & stretched away from each other. He took a deep breath, hoping to lengthen his spine to tip the base of his head to see something—anything—to help. The walls were bare. #vss365
Scraping cutlery. Snoring. The TV always blaring sport. His noise used to frustrate her. Now she can't take the silence she once longed for.

Re: SparkNotes. If I knew a teacher was phoning it in, I did too.
In HS, I aced some English classes with SparkNotes. Those teachers didn't try, and this was before Google was big. For teachers now, who DO try, how do they get students to really read a novel (and demonstrate they've read it) when AI makes it so easy fake it? I imagine it's tough.
Stories like this are why I love flash.
I love the way you used a weather notification to tell this story!
This @okaydonkeymag.com piece caught my 👀 b/c I have an (unpublished) "Escalator" I hope you get to read.
"They’d be ignored by two generations and they’d still have just wound up here, trying to ignore each other and this woman at the end of the escalator..."

I read another piece from Uncharted this morning. A lot to think about here.

Delighted to have this weird morsel of a story in @gooseberrypielit.bsky.social’s new issue, which features so many good stories!! “Turtle Soup” was inspired by my great-grandmother, who took herself to lunch after planning her own funeral. 🐢 #flashfiction #writersky #booksky #microfiction
Everyday horrors are just as unsettling (or more, because they're really happening?) as those we imagine. Love the format of this piece!
"She slaps a slab of hat on my head..."

LOVE IT.
I drove through The Mist to get to work today and survived. The strangest thing, though, was that it smelled like Lucky Charms.
It's feeling like spring here. 🌱 I have the windows open, and the cats and I are loving it.
One of my favorites has a new home with @trashcatlit.bsky.social! 🧀
It's here! Look for my "The Ripening Process" in this issue!
The detour is still there. I may not drive down Haunted Lane, but one day, I will at least drive BY it.
Focus is on hardcover of JUST WATCH ME (A Novel) by Lior Torenberg. The book is near a cappuccino and bud vase, on a wooden surface.
This seized me. I'm here, and I'm watching. And I don't want to look away. The MC is (I think) using nihilism to cope with grief, making her pretty difficult to stomach, but I love stories with miserable characters.
🙀 What does this say about me?
@trashcatlit.bsky.social is right. The cheese IS so good. 🧀
Look for "The Ripening Process" on February 28! 🥳
