Theatre Review: Avenue Q I'll admit, I was a little sceptical about returning to Avenue Q. I saw it on its original West End run back in… OH MY GOD I AM SO OLD! FUCK! Where did the time go? It's always hard to know how much to update a show. Does it need constant reinvention to stay in the zeitgeist or can it be pickled forever as a classic? "I wish I had taken more pictures" was something that utterly resonated with …

Avenue Q School Edition, "My Social Life is Online" YouTube video by Music Theatre International

OMG YOU GUYS!

There's a version of Avenue Q which is for schools.

They rework some of the songs to be more "suitable" for kids.

Here's the lovely way they've adapted "The Internet Is For Porn."

I buy my books from Kobo, remove the DRM, then transfer them to Kindle.
If that's a bit of a faff, I'd buy a Kobo (tied to the Kobo store in the same way Kindle was tied to Amazon).

Dear Customer,

Thank you for being a longtime Kindle customer. We're glad our devices have served you well for as long as they have. Starting May 20, 2026 — 14 to 18 years after their initial launches — we are discontinuing support for Kindle devices released in 2012 or earlier. Here's what this means for you:

* You can continue to read books already downloaded on these devices, but you will not be able to purchase, borrow, or download additional books on them after that date.
* If you deregister or factory reset these devices, you will not be able to re-register or use these devices in any way.

Affected devices include Kindle 1st and 2nd Generation, Kindle DX and DX Graphite, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle 4, Kindle Touch, Kindle 5, and Kindle Paperwhite 1st Generation.

To minimize any disruption, we're offering a promotional code for 20% off

Amazon are killing off their old Kindles - notably the ones which still let you remove DRM from their ebooks.
I suspect that it is also because they can't connect to modern TLS servers.
A shame, although I was only using it for stripping DRM.

Some delightful updates to #AvenueQ in London. Most sensible, some shocking, all hilarious.

If you've seen the show before, you already know which bit got the biggest cheer of the evening.

Did WordPress VIP leak my phone number? As discussed in my last blog post, the scumsuckers at Apollo.io have been giving out my personal details. Not only did they have my email address, they also had a copy of one of my phone numbers. I asked them where they got it from and they said: Your phone number came from Parsely, Inc (wpvip.com) one of our customers who participates in our customer contributor network by sharing their…

Annual Benefit Statements

We are aware of an issue that occurred on the Civil Service Pensions Scheme (CSPS) member portal for around 35 minutes on 30 March 2026, affecting the accuracy of a small number of Annual Benefit Statements (ABS) generated in this period. 138 members either received personal ABS data belonging to other members and/or had their personal data seen by other members.

All impacted members will be written to by 9am on 3 April 2026 via secure message. If you have not received correspondence from us, your data was not impacted in any way.

This was identified quickly, ABS functionality was immediately suspended, and a full investigation undertaken.

Good news! The Civil Service Pension Scheme website can now show you an Annual Benefit Statement 😃

Bad news! Not necessarily *your* ABS 🙃

Don't look up anything about it. Just wander into the park, pay your tenner, then bill me for the therapy afterwards.

The Lennon memorial is also nice.

Žižkov Television Tower has weird sculptures on it, and a good view.

Someone at BrowserStack is Leaking Users' Email Address Like all good nerds, I generate a unique email address for every service I sign up to. This has several advantages - it allows me to see if a message is legitimately from a service, if a service is hacked the hackers can't go credential stuffing, and I instantly know who leaked my address. A few weeks ago I signed up for BrowserStack as I wanted to join their Open Source programme. I had a few…

Book Review: Superintelligence - Paths, Dangers, Strategies by Nick Bostrom When I finally invent time-travel, the first thing I'll do is go back in time and give everyone a copy of this book. Published in 2014, it clearly sets out the likely problems with true Artificial Intelligence (not the LLM crap we have now) and what measures need to be put in place before it is created. It opens with The Unfinished Fable of the Sparrows: Which, frankly, should be the end of …
