Teal is the new grey, at least for this week 😁

A clean vertical edge separates two color planes: White or light gray on the left, and teal or turquoise green on the right. The division runs the full height of the frame. Subtle texture is visible on both surfaces, but the composition is reduced to this simple two-color relationship.

Hi Anna - It represents my mental state on a bad day, so yes super mangled, adding rain I leave for super bad days, may-be I should do rain and red ;-). Chat soon?
I'm more of a fan of orange Anna (70s colour themes) I don't know why red keeps creeping in. I shall attempt to remove it from now on :-)
Three large circular windows are set into a flat expanse of red brick wall, evenly spaced in a horizontal row. Each window is framed by a ring of radiating brick detail, giving them an almost eye-like quality. The glass is very dark, almost black, reflecting nothing and revealing nothing of the interior beyond. A chrome handrail runs diagonally along a ramp in the foreground. A partial fourth circular opening is visible at the far right edge of the frame, partially cut off. A strong diagonal shadow from an unseen overhang cuts across the upper portion of the brick wall.

Several large, heavily rusted cast iron manhole and street access covers have been removed and piled haphazardly on a grey asphalt road surface. The frames, which are rectangular with complex internal structures of ridges and voids, are stacked at angles across each other, suggesting they were simply dropped where they lay. Raking sunlight catches the rough, corroded texture of the metal, casting strong shadows across the road.

Thank-you Jason, very much appreciated, and I'm glad you liked it, I look forward to more of these challenges.
Thank-you Robyn (@handcranked.bsky.social) , I'm not sure anyone has noticed its not exactly the same image!
Thank-you, I appreciate the feedback.
Thank-you, and I think this whole concept is great, I look forward to more challenges. I was a little worried about re-imagining aspects of the image and if this would be allowed or not.
@pmgibbs.bsky.social l appreciate the re-post 🙏
@yannoehl.bsky.social thank-you for the re-post.
A split-field monochrome interpretation of the Grand Canyon, originally photographed by @rjrock.bsky.social, processed in ON1 with a wet plate texture and low-key tonal treatment. Created in response to a brief to remove the colour — high key, low key, noir, cyanotype, platinum — where does your eye go? The bilateral symmetry creates a landscape that feels lost in time, like an old postcard of a place that doesn't exist, but might.

Thinking: Stripping the colour made the canyon feel lost in time and pushed me to lean into: "An old postcard of a place that doesn't exist, but might."!
I have written some custom scripts to pull the data. I have some interesting alternative views on the data too, but they are a little complex for posting regularly.
A study in light, shadow, and form. Deep shadow occupies the left side, meeting lighter tones at a sharp vertical boundary. Soft gradations and texture suggest dimensionality without revealing specific objects. The composition evokes stillness and contemplation through minimal geometric relationships.

A black and white image of trees reflected in still water, creating a near-symmetrical composition where it is difficult to distinguish the real trees from their reflection. Silhouetted leaves and branches fill the frame against a pale sky, with grass visible at the bottom edge.

A canopy of autumn trees shot from below, dense golden and amber leaves filling the entire frame. Bright sunlight bursts through the top right corner casting a warm flare across the scene, with dark branches silhouetted against the glowing foliage.
Fantastic ❤️it.
Diagonal bands of blue, gray, and white gradient softly across the frame, with a darker shadow along one light blue band creating subtle depth.

Thank-you Anna, pure stone this week and a dive into its richness.
Hi Anna, I went for a whimsical title for these this week. It was probably a Friday.
Close-up of layered rock slabs. Warm terracotta sandstone frames the edges, while a large piece of deep teal-black slate dominates the center, its surface smooth and dark as still water. Smaller pale stone fragments rest on top of the dark slate like scattered pieces of a broken tile.

Close-up of a weathered rock surface covered in golden and grey-green lichen. At the center, an oval hollow in the stone reveals a reddish-brown core, giving the surface the appearance of a half-open eye looking upward.

A wide landscape photograph in black and white with cool blue-grey tones. The image is divided into three horizontal bands. In the foreground, exposed layered rock shelves extend across the frame, intersected by dark shallow pools of still water reflecting the sky above. A slope of pale loose pebbles runs diagonally across the lower right corner. In the middle distance the rock shelves give way to a calm, flat sea, its surface glinting with soft reflected light. In the sky above, long exposure has rendered the clouds as sweeping horizontal streaks of light and dark grey, creating a sense of movement and weight. The overall mood is dramatic and elemental, with a stillness that feels both ancient and vast.
