I've read too little literary fiction lately so I grabbed this masterpiece. What a joy! Henchard is still one of my favorite characters ever. What struck me with this reading was Hardy's economy as a writer, which was extraordinary for a Victorian. Such deft pacing. #bookworm #bookrecommendations

If you’ve read THE HAIGHT, please take 1 min. to review it on Amazon/Goodreads (preferably both). Just a few words would help A LOT!
I’m applying for a BookBub campaign -- a potential gamechanger for authors.
Thanks to all who’ve already reviewed!

When researching The Flaming Turret (Haight Mystery No. 5), I photographed a bunch of turrets in and around #HaightAshbury. I wanted to remember the structure, decorations, and variety as I was writing the book. I've always loved turrets in old houses.

I'm looking forward to attending an online seminar Sunday on writing short stories, delivered by one of the masters of the genre, Elaine McCluskey. It will definitely be educational and, knowing Elaine, it will be damned entertaining. wfnb.ca/event-6377461
The chapter I'm now writing is set in this wonderful tavern, which I visited in October. The Hotel Utah Saloon was called the Transbay Tavern in 1969, when Jimmy Spracklin stopped in. It will appear in Book 6 of The Haight Mystery Series, out in the fall.
