Thank you Audrey! I was chasing a snowy egret and got sidetracked by this beauty!
Thank you Alina! It is crazy!🤪
No worries. I use a Canon R5 Mark II with a Canon RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens. It is tack sharpe and has built in image stabilization.
You are welcome! I totally understand. Thank you for the kind words back!
I love stories of defeating adversity!
Thank you!🙏🙏🙏
That is an interesting story and crazy! I’ve met a few people over the years with scares and missing fingers from farm accidents, but not a missing arm. Sounds like he adapted well. Thank gosh!
I have not been to the Yesteryear Farm Show at the Dougherty Museum, but I just looked it up. It looks fun!
I know, right?
Thank you Mairead! I couldn’t believe it was so close to the trail (6 feet) and didn’t move as I was walking by.
Beautiful!
So beautiful!
I agree 100%!!!
I definitely got excited, and then quickly disappointed. Talk about a roller coaster ride!
Thank you, Robyn!
I find myself mimicking this sound all the time. Sometimes out loud back at them. The blackbirds probably think I am off key and people probably think I am nuts! Haha!🤣
I love their calls too! I have never been attacked, but have photographed them attacking herons and hawks and a fellow photographer I follow on Bluesky was pecked at too! So crazy!🤪
Thank you!🙏
Gorgeous!
Photo by Kort Duce The City of Longmont’s Agricultural Heritage Center is part museum, part working farm. Here, an old McCormick-Deering thresher sits quietly in a lush green field, with a surprisingly convincing fake owl perched on the equipment—it fooled me at first glance. In this horizontal color photograph, the weathered machine rests amid vibrant grass under a sky thick with storm clouds, adding a sense of drama and unease to the scene. Barely visible in the background is McIntosh Reservoir, offering a subtle hint of place beyond the foreground.

Photo by Kort Duce A red-winged blackbird sings at one of my favorite local parks in Longmont, Colorado. In this vertical color photograph, the bird fills the frame as it perches in a small pine tree, belting out its call. Its feathers are puffed out as it sings. The background is a soft blur of green pine needles with patches of gray sky filtering through. In the foreground, a dead pine branch with peeling bark reveals intricate pine beetle grooves zigzagging across its surface.

Thank you Luis!🙏
That is a great way to avoid what you are talking about, yet still providing water.
That is a great way to look at it. 🤣😂😢
Thank you, Melanie!
Awesome capture!
Oh gosh, that is crazy! 🤪
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
Yikes! That would be a very unpleasant smell! I have heard other people say how their ponds are decimated by herons fishing. Kind of funny, but not.
